tilp help
« on: May 28, 2007, 09:13:00 am »
i was having trouble sending some pprograms to my calc so i decided that i needed to try tilp instead of ti-connect as i hear that alot of people say its better and less fussy, well i cant even get the darn'd thing to start up. i installed the GTK libraries and installed tilp itself but i cant figure out how to get the silver driver installed, the installation instructions are incredibly vague:
1.  Extract files in a directory.     ...in A directory, so any'll do? i just took em all
2.  Connect the cable.     which?!  hopefull meant the silver cable
3.  Wait until a dialog for driver installation opens. ...Assuming he meant the silver cable, this is not working
4.  Do not connect to Windows Update. ...
5.  Install software from a specified source.  ...
6.  Do not search, choose driver yourself.   ...
7.  Choose USB-Device.    ...
8.  Choose data media, select TIGLUSB.inf in the directory with the extracted files. ...
9.  Select TI-GRAPH/DIRECT LINK USB.  ...
10. Install driver (even if signature is missing).   ...

can anyone shed any light on this subject, because im lost in the dark.
*quote demon* Pshaw! It is easy as cake. The hardest part is probably installing the driver (if you use SilverLink), but you only gotta do that once. *end quote*. i would not like to eat a cake that is this hard.

Plug in link cable.
Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager
Select cable under Universal Serial Bus controllers (or Unknown).
Follow screenshots above.

well i redid everything like 10 times but i couldnt get it to work. i did install the driver, but i could never get tilp to execute properly.

the error message alway was: the procedure entry point libiconv_set_realocation_prefix could not be located in the dynamic link library iconv.dll

does anyone know how to get rid of this error. if this is a problem because of the GTK+ stuff, which it seems like it is, idk. i installed the GTK's and the ioport stuff and everything, but it wont work. idk maybe im just dumb, but i cant figure this out...

Try this version of GTK:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/gimp-win/gtk%2B-2.10.6-1-setup.zip

If you still get the error, search for that file and copy it into TiLP's program folder.

odd, when i installed the new gtk pack, it said that somefile would conflict or something and it asked me if i wanted to rename the iconv.dll file. i installed it with renaming that and with not renaming that but that still didnt get working

Search for the iconv.dll from the GTK installation and copy it into TiLP's program folder, and if there's already one in there, replace it with the new one.

Hopefully that should do it.

is there a separate folder for the gtk installs? if there isnt then i searched and found one in the wondows directory, i then pasted it into the tilp one, it didnt fix it.

My last solution: Uninstall TiLP and any copies of GTK you have, search for "iconv.dll" again and delete any copies of it, install a fresh copy of GTK and TiLP 1.04 and try to run it once more.
