Hi everyone. I've been having this problem for months. Suddenly one day when i tried to open wabbitemu up i wait for a long time and nothing happens. I sometimes am able to see the deselection of the windows explorer window for a split second like the focus window has changed. It also however used to run under administrator but was very unstable and crashed when i tried to open an axe file. I have the latest version from Aug 16. I don't know what's happening.
-
YAY!!
I'm not the only one!!!
I've had exactly the same problem for many weeks.
But two days ago I was able to fix it!
You must de-install (delete) wabbitemu, install it again and create a new rom-image for your TI!
That's all you need to do!
It has worked the third time I tried this!
So don't give up if it won't work!!
Try it again if it's not working!!
-
im not sure if i get it. even after deleting it and trying it in another folder with no roms at all the same thing happens.
also does java have anything to do with it?

Wabbit is C++ iirc, so no, it shouldn't. I haven't had any problems with it opening, though. I would suggest saying something in its discussion page (http://wabbit.codeplex.com/discussions), that way Buckeye can help you there and others who have this problem in the future can learn from it (if Buckeye doesn't fix it) :)
-
Is there version you have different from the one on the website? If so, try the new version and see if that fixes it.
-
A suggestion -- did you make Wabbitemu create a ROM image, or are you using one copied/some_other_verb from your physical calculator?
I've generally found that getting the ROM directly from the calculator is much more bug-free.
-
I think Buckeye said he updated it one or two weeks ago. But I created a ROM from rom8x using the upgrade OS file and I haven't had any problems with it.
-
using the upgrade OS file? so u don't need an actual ti-84? thanks ill try that
-
Just clarifying. You had a working wabbitemu and rom and then upgraded and now it won't work? I've seen this sort problem before and I thought I knew the symptom of it but maybe not. Usually if wabbitemu doesnt start its due to some bad registry settings. First make sure no wabbitemu is running. Goto task manager and make sure no Wabbitemu.exe are running. If they are just kill the process.
Next open up regedit and goto HKCU\Software\Wabbitemu. Delete that key. If you're unsure how to do it let me know and I'll give more specific instructions. Then try starting up wabbitemu again. Also I don't reccomend starting wabbitemu as an administrator there should be really no need.
Also some questions in case that does not work.
a. What rom are you using and where did it come from? Perferablly model, OS version and boot code version
b. What operating system are you running on? 32 or 64 bit?
c. What version of wabbitemu are you running on? Check in about->help

Interesting, I've found this topic posted by FinaleTI with the same problem, im even using the same OS as him 2.43. http://ourl.ca/12542 I know its been months since you answered but ill try it now
32 bit Windows7
-
yay, it worked! Now i can continue my axe programming where i left off months ago. I wonder why the registry can become like this...
(sorry for dp)
-
Heh dont tell me it took you that long to fix? Anyways it comes from a change I made to the settings but I can't remember what change that was. So when you upgrade it breaks. I've yet to figure out why
-
Well I kinda stopped everything for a while, i should've tried this ages ago and seen your post on 29 august
-
Haha fair enough. You might want to upgrade your wabbit as well
-
Another question: Wabbitemu no longer shows an 'Create/open ROM image' wizard. Now I can't use wabbit any more D:
-
Maybe try dragging a rom into the wabbitemu window.
-
I'm a little confused by your problem. The setup wizard should really only appear once. Once you have a rom then you're good, it will just load the rom you created/specified. If you really need it again, its in the help menu (help->rerun setup wizard).
If youre running this on a brand new computer or youve deleted your registry settings or your rom disappeared, whatever and you run wabbitemu and nothing happens, then I'm concerned. Tell me your operating system, what version of wabbitemu youre running, and what you did so I can reproduce it.
I can tell you now, if you're not running 1.5.10.9 the first thing I'm going to do is redirect you to http://wabbit.codeplex.com and tell you to get the latest.
-
afaik, its working now. thanx.
TIP: Keypress is awesome, but, but. It is a bit inconvenient that it only works with the keyboard and that it gives key down>up. only 'key pressed' would be okay. also holding keys, is that possible (like ON+key hooks)
-
Cool beans let me know if you have any other issues or ideas
-
check post: edited. If you add images for keypresses, maybe I can convince my math teacher to change to Wabbit instead of 'Smart' view. you should also add some options for displaying the graph and the table window. After all this program is way better then
SmartDUMBview.
also could you get on IRC?

-
Can you elaborate on what you mean by images for keypresses and options for displaying the graph and table window? Keys should darken when you press them, and graph and table window can be accessed same as the regular calc, via their respective keys
-
I mean, in the keypress window. and separate windows for graph and table like
(http://www.rhombus.be/contents/media/ti%20smartview%2084plus%203.gif)
-
I gotcha. The keys I could do. I already have something to log keypresses, though it doesnt display the nice images, I can convert that pretty easily. The graph and table views are a little harder, simply because they are OS things. I'm also not sure how you would display them since Wabbitemu doesnt have an overarching window. Maybe create a Teacher View to allow them to access all this info. I'll ask some of the teachers I know using this and see what they think
-
also, you just have to show the 'key down' thing.
Also, how does linking work?
-
By linking do you mean sending files to the calc? Or do you mean linking two calcs togethers. For the former, you can either drag and drop files or open them via File->open dialog. If you mean the latter under the calculator menu there is an option connect virtual link cable. You can press this and wabbitemu will attach to a virtual hub. You can then create another calculator via File->new and do the same thing to that calc. Those two are now connected via the virtual link cable and you can do linking between them
