WabbitEmu Skins?
« on: July 05, 2010, 10:56:28 am »
This may sound like a very stupid question to ask, but where are the skins for WabbitEmu?  I always get the same error message at the beginning saying that there is no skin file.  I've had a heck of a time trying to find them.  Could someone please help?
Cheers!

Which version are you using?

WabbitEmu has a selection of built-in skins representing each type of model. Depending on the ROM you load, (which I guess is probably necessary to see any kind of interface) you'll get a skin that represents that calculator. The skins aren't stored externally. If your version isn't loading any skin, there are two possibilities that come to mind: There isn't a skin representing the ROM version you've loaded, or maybe you're using a beta that's missing these resources for some reason.

Let me check quick.
*Mighty Moose goes to check WabbitEmu version.

EDIT: I think I am currently running version 1.5 (at least that's what it said when I clicked on the about button under help).

That's the version I have, as well. Which ROM are you loading into the emulator? (that is, which calculator model)

Unless you downloaded it in the past week, you are not completely up to date. I fixed this problem already, go get the latest: http://wabbit.codeplex.com. It was my fault, I had included and older version of the skin, incompatible with the latest and greatest

Just downloaded the newest version - love the skin for it!! ;D
Thanx BuckeyDude! 8)

[Slightly Offtopic] Btw, is there something wrong with the save state feature?  Because (in the old version I had) it would save, but whenerver it loaded, the calc screen turned solid black and all the icons on my computer (desktop, windows, etc.) started flashing.  In the new version it simply doesn't load - I get "sorry, WabbitEmu needs to close...blahblahblah...would you like to report to Microsoft?" Is it just me and my crappy computer skillz or is this something with WabbitEmu itself? ???[/Slighty Offtopic]
@Omnimaga: kind of useless now, but I am running XP (not quite sure where to find bits)
Cheers!

Oh for bits it was more for Vista and 7 users. There is a 32 and 64 bit version of both.

Glad you like the skin, 84s were kinda difficult to make. As for your save state issue, it is indeed a wabbitemu problem. Basically the 84plus was not originally included in the original wabbit code, so there is some missing support. I've uploaded another new version that fixes this too.

There was a 64 bit version of xp too, just no one used it :P If anyone is running that I'd be curious about the performance

Aaaah I see. I guess that's why I never really heard of 64-bit XP.

I *think* the 64bit version of XP was kinda buggy. Not sure though, I've only heard from a few other people. I only ran the 32 bit version, which I loved until windows 7 came and swept me off my feet.

I never used it either, but I heard that it had compatibility issues with 32-bit programs. Wikipedia has some more info about it.

The userbars in my sig are links embedded links.

And in addition to calculator (and Python!) stuff, I mod Civilization 4 (frequently with Python).

1336K ... getting close... :D

[Also slightly off-topic]So is the WabbitCode download basically going to be the full studio? Maybe it should be labeled as the overall "recommended download", so people wouldn't have to look under downloads.[/Also]

And yep, the new skins are awesome!
