Would NdLess launcher work with OS 3.2.3 on the Ti-Nspire CX?
« on: August 09, 2013, 08:48:22 pm »
Hello community,

First time here. Just bought a Ti-Nspire CX a week ago, and looking towards to do some modding. Did some research and saw about NdLess launcher. I haven't upgraded the software that came with the calculator (version 3.0.1.1753), because I am scared that it won't work. Would the latest software work with NdLess launcher? Are there any tutorials of how to put games on it? Thanks.

Ndless is not compatible with OS 3.2.x and will most likely never be. You need os 3.1.0.392 to use Ndless (since you have 3.0.x you're lucky as you'll be able to install it no problem).
I'll help you to install Nlaunch and Ndless happily, can you tell me if you have the CAS or non-CAS model ?

Welcome to Omnimaga by the way. ;)

Also instead of just installing games and leaving, we invite you to stay around and make some programs too. Programming is easy and fun, and I'm sure you can enjoy it. ;) You can go introduce yourself there.

Oh. Sorry about that. I am using the non-CAS model. I kind of know that you need Ndless and Nlaunch to install games, would installing another OS on the calculator as well (such as Ti-Nspire CX CAS software on the Ti-Nspire CX non-CAS)?

Yes you can install a CAS OS on a non-CAS calc (I did it on mine) but it's not supported on this forum as this is considered cheating in America (I'm French).

First download Nlaunchy here : http://tiplanet.org/forum/archives_voir.php?id=12130
Then Ndless here : http://www.unsads.com/projects/nsptools/downloader/download/release/1 (pick the highest revision)
And your OS here : http://tiplanet.org/forum/archives_voir.php?id=3717
You also need TNOC : http://tiplanet.org/forum/archives_voir.php?id=1922

Make sure you have an up to date version of the Nspire computer link or student software on your computer. I'll tell you what you need to do once you have all this stuff.

Sorry for the late reply. I downloaded all the things, and now what do I do? Would I able to install the latest version of the TI-Nspire CX CAS 3.2.3 on it?

Install OS CX non CAS 3.1 on your calc the proper way, install Ndless 3.1 by reading the included README or tuts, install nlaunchy by reading the included README or tuts, then launch OS CX CAS 3.2.3 using nlaunchy (notice that this is not an install but only a "launch").

Edit : oh, and search a bit by your own, your question has been a lot asked, and recently answered by the come of nlaunch(y).

What do you mean just a launch not an install? Can you still use all the functions in the OS CX CAS software, right?

It's an install, and yes all CX CAS functions will be available.

I think I will do it later on. What if some reason you want to restore everything back (like factory reset), how do you do that?

You would use the maintenance menu through maintaining the Reset button on the back pressed, pressing DOC + Enter + EE, and releasing the Reset button.

Hi guys this is my first post....

I've been looking doing this conversion. No matter how many times I do the procedure, I end up getting stuck and on the top left I see "ABC12345fF6U7"

EDIT: For those getting similar problems, I decided to use a newer version of CX CAS software the 3.2 one supported by nLaunch. It works... I think you can't use mviewer now and ndless but it may be a worthwhile tradeoff...

Wow. It's been 4 months already and I haven't done anything... OS 3.6 is here for Ti-Nspire series. Is there any new ways for installing Ti-Nspire CX CAS into a Ti-Nspire CX now? Would it work if I put OS 3.6?

Don't upgrade to 3.6. You'll regret it if you plan to use Ndless. Unlike previous OSes, you can't go back afterward, not even via RS232 nor the existing hacks. I think it might be possible to use 3.1 and 3.6 simultaneously (via nLaunched 3.6) but I'm unsure. Someone who knows more about this should confirm in case.

I don't see any point in using 3.6 anyway, as it adds nothing new, doesn't fix any existing bugs and comes with extra anti-downgrade/Ndless protections.

Hey man,

I downloaded the 3.6 OS & you can run Ndless but only under the Boot 2 (There are 2 boots to go under btw)
and you have to install 3.1 OS as well under Boot 2.

There is some hardware you have to buy & hook up & then you have to reset to run Ndless.

Take a look at my thread "Worth Upgrading?"

I don't know what you're talking about the way you said it. If someone reads this without knowing everything he might get confused and try to install OS 3.6 first the official way which is a doomed way.

The correct facts are : You can run OS 3.6 with nLaunchy and if you want you can run Ndlessed OS 3.1 with nLaunchy switch feature (see the many Ndless switch topics).

In order to have nLaunchy available you have to have boot2 3.1. This is where the hardware part comes. If you don't have boot2 3.1 you may use a TTL/USB adaptator to reprogram this boot2.

But this is not the end. If you have an Nspire with >= J-revision, you have to buy a new mother board from a reseller.

So next time, don't say you can install Ndless and OS 3.6, these are two seperates things (see Ndless switcher 3.6).
