I don't think law would be particularly helpful in this situation as we've little but anecdotal evidence to go by and, quite frankly, I don't think anecdotal evidence helps much in proving identity theft, if the law even considers something like this identity theft. I could be wrong though.

Ah, well I was wondering if posing under the name of another person and doing things like *that* (meaning posting stuff that could harm a persons reputation and rights) was considered identity theft.

In a way, it's theft and probably libel, but if you think about it, nobody can truly prove their identity on the Internet. Given the general anonymity of the web and the fact it's something of a sovereign entity, it's really hard to call shots here. Again, I could be wrong :/

happybobjr was banned? I mean, it looks like he posted about 25-30 times inappropriately. it's obvious he was hacked, so ban him for a day, send him an email letting him know when it took place so he knows how he got hacked. everyone who's known happybobjr for more than a few months knows he wouldn't spam on purpose. in short, the permban was an overreaction. However, i have to ask, did DJ get punished at all for saying "STOP GODDAMNIT!!" at least 50+ times consecutively? In my opinion, happybobjr should've been banned for a day and emailed about the situation. DJ should have been at least given a warning from an admin. rule 7 was broken for spam and rule 8 because a cuss word was spammed.

I have a friend who is a lawyer, but the incident needs to involve either fall protection equipment or a small boating accident.

Anyways I feel bad for happybojr. It would be pretty sad for anyone to lose their account and all its histroy. :(

List of stuff I need to do before September:
1. Finish the Emulator of the Casio Prizm (in active development)
2. Finish the the SH3 asm IDE/assembler/linker program (in active development)
3. Create a partial Java virtual machine  for the Prizm (not started)
4. Create Axe for the Prizm with an Axe legacy mode (in planning phase)
5. Develop a large set of C and asm libraries for the Prizm (some progress)
6. Create an emulator of the 83+ for the Prizm (not started)
7. Create a well polished game that showcases the ability of the Casio Prizm (not started)

This issue is being dealt with by the admins and certain parties involved.
All aspects of the issue that have been mentioned are being addressed, although it may take some time for something to actually happen due to the fact that not all admins have replied on the issue yet.
So lets not start taking sides, or blaming others in public. Any more questions on if an action has been taken on "this or that" should be pm'd to an admin instead of asked in public as to avoid incidents.
Thank you.
(If I sound harsh or something I apologize, I'm a little upset about something completely different atm)

Although this is locked, I feel like I need to add my say there:

Happybobjr account will be re-instated from a backup made recently. His posts will also be re-attributed to his account afterward. However I need to clarify things:

Happybobjr had a past history of being warned on the forums. He received at least three forum warnings for being rude, a bunch for topic advertising, got called out a few times on spammish posts and IRC randomness, in order. Before the spam, he posted about how there was too much swearing and stuff on Omnimaga, but some people disagreed with some points. Not long afterward the spam attack occurs, but here's the thing: The account was viewing the DJ no longer admin thread while doing so. Inevitably it sounded like him, not to mention certain of his spam (not the bad words) were similar to some of his previous shorter spam.

Now I apologise for jumping to the conclusion that it was him too fast, but first of all, many clues made it sound like it was him deciding to go loose now that the most active admin would no longer warn him. I even started to wonder if he wasn't Thegame/I am a troll, since his spelling (no offense) was similar. I also apologise for overeacting to his spam and flooding the channel with all caps afterward as well, and staff/admins are free to assign any punishment to me if they feel necessary.

However, nemo, Check your PM. You need to think about what admins had to deal with (both IRL and online) before badmouthing them for their action.
