Ok, I attend community college. It is probably one of the cheapest places to attend, but I can't get a dime of assistance. While this is not ideal, it does not itself anger me. That said, a lot of money is being used so that I can get a diploma and be a "productive" part of society. Now then, I may or may not end up doing a lot of good in my life, but my before me is long and theoreticaly speaking, that gives me a long time to be of benifit to society. On the other side of the spectrum, the old of the society who have but years left till the grave and theoreticaly little societial benifit receive aid to go school. Most will not get major jobs, many will do poorly in their classes, and overal, society gains very little. The fact they recieve aid does not bother me, however, the place they recive it from absolutely enrages me. The money from my tutition is pooled with all other tuitions and is used to pay for all operating cost of the college. The college gives away these free classes to those whom are at the end of their ropes. This means the college is basicaly taking a portion of my money and throwing it away, and thusly I am furious and enraged. If it was going to pay for those whom are particularly skilled or smart, it would not so anger me, and it is the principal of it I dislike. I wonder if any one else feels this unhapiness is warrented.
So, do you think it is dumb, or do you think I am being insensitive? I'd like to hear opinions.

Lol, you could try for the merit-based scholarships and grants and loans and stuff. If they suxx0r that much, I doubt they'd be much competition. I go to a private college so it's hella expensive ($35k/year) but I went crazy last year with applying for scholarships and aid and it ended up cheaper than the state schools. (Only had to pay about $5000) I dunno if I can keep this up though.
I may be going to the state schools if I don't make enough $$$ for the years to come. The time of year when you have to apply for aid and stuff has come around again so I shall be writing lots of essays for scholarships and stuff.

well, though I have a perfect 4.00 in college, I had a crappy one in hs so I never had much chance of getting one. Further, most schollarships worth more than a few hours wage seem to want you to be any color but white.

And we have our completely non-racist society to thank for that 'all non-white' college fund.
But about your point, I'd say your right mostly. Except for the fact that the last thing those guys want to do in life is learn what they never had a chance to learn before, so its more like a "let them be educated and happy before they die" situation than "let's throw away $ smartsing up oldies so we look more humanitarian than teh other colleges!"

still, its pointless to teach them as many are worse than young students at being on time or actualy understanding the simplest of ideas and concepts. (Which wastes both the dollars and time of everyone else)
