calc84maniac's been staff for a long time I'm guessing (he's the sixth registered member on this forum). I've only been a Coder of Tomorrow since last November. (Just realized: a year already? Time flies when you have a calculator :D)

I lost 40% (10 at the time) of my rating to one post where I told someone why I downvoted them.
Spoiler For The lesson learned:
If you plan to downvote someone, be sure to do it in secrecy! It's certainly not as welcome as telling someone why you upvoted them!

Anyway, what are the qualifications for CoT ? Just being plain awesome :P ?

My greatest achievement on this forum (which wasn't actually on the forum) was talking to Juju and a few others via teamspeak. :P

Also, I don't think I ever was downvoted on a post. Or I don't remember if I was. :P (But I don't post a lot so that may explain it)

Imma Cat! =^_^= :3 (It's an emoticon now!)

Spoiler For IMPORTANT NEWS!:
Late last night, Quebec was invaded by a group calling themselves, "Omnimaga". Not much is known about these mysterious people except that they all carried calculators of some kind and they all seemed to converge on one house in particular. Experts estimate that the combined power of their fabled calculators is greater than all the worlds super computers put together. The group seems to be holding out in the home of a certain DJ_O, who the Omnimagians claim to be their founder. Such power has put the world at a standstill with everyone waiting to see what the Omnimagians will do...

Wait... This just in, the Omnimagians have sent the UN a list of demands that must be met or else the world will be "submitted to the wrath of Netham45's Lobster Army". Such demands include >9001 crates of peanuts, sacrificial blue lobsters, and a wide assortment of cherry flavored items. With such computing power stored in the hands of such people, we can only hope these demands are met.

In the wake of these events, we can only ask, Why? Why do these people make these demands, what caused them to gather, and what are their future plans...

Back when I went into every topic I could find and posted NSFW photos of lobsters in each one :P J/k.

I wish lol

CoT are staff, so we need to be hiring at the time. (I don't think we are now.) There are a few requirements (like posting enough and good behavior), and when the applications come we just sift through them.

No, you were downrated because you downrated someone for a non valable reason, and said it. But if you downrate someone with a good reason, say it. For example, DJ downrated me because one of my post was kind of discouraging (not on purpose) and he told me why. Now, I think more about why I'm posting before posting: even if I never say bad things (on purpose), some may take it as bad.

Sorry if I answer with something that seems unrelated, English is not my primary language and I might not have understood well. Sorry if I make English mistakes too.

Oh, so it wasn't me expressing my opinion, rather the dissenting opinion I was expressing that gave others a valuable reason to down vote me in response.
Good to know my peers are working hard to shape my own values via discouragement.

Errr... I didn't understand that part ???

Post scriptum: In my case, I never downrate (except the trolls like Deron) but say the reason why I could downrate.

Necrobumpist the main issue was that your downvoting was for no reason (it said because the person hated Axe, but the person did not even hate Axe in the first place) and people saw that as an attempt at starting a forum fight. Saying why you downvoted someone is fine (and better in some cases when the person has to be warned for doing something wrong) but as long as the downvoting was not against someone who did nothing bad involving forum rules.

It's like when someone rates down somebody because he's French instead of English or someone who asks a question on the forums that was answered about 20-30 pages earlier. (Although the former hasn't happened here)
