i yet have to figure out why it worked fine on my pc though

I am gonna try it on my bro's pc when he let me use it (which is next to impossible these days since he's addicted to Yu-Gi-Oh Online). I'll uninstall RPG Maker from his pc and the RTPs as well, then install the game

if I dont get any errors then it's nitacku/dysfunction computers which have problems or a bad video card that doesn't support some 2D stuff properly. If I get the error I'll check the error message. It will be quite a bit problem if there are no error messages though. I checked through the game events and couldn't find anything wrong

UPDATE: The game works fine on my bro's PC.

Now my other concern: could this be caused by the fact I am using the french version of RPG Maker and that my game will have compatibilities issues with english versions of Windows? Again the original version worked fine on them but we never know

so I am gonna try to install an english version of RPG Maker 2003 now, and if it support my game I will try to run it through this. I hope it won't wreck the game even more though.

That said,

http://www.mtv-music-generator.com/xlib/mcog2coa.zip

could someone else who have 2000 or XP try the game and if he gets an error message on exiting the cavern please tell me exactly what is written in the error message. It may help me a lot. Thanks

I made it through the first cave no problem, and even ventured around the second town.

I'm not sure if the version of RPG Maker you used is compatible with XP. That may be the problem. You can probably remedy this by setting the compatibility layer to 2000.

at least that's good that someone else managed to do it. In which language is your windows version though?

Oh and RPGMK english installer maker works, unlike the french version (which is why i used another installer maker) but it sucks imho, so I'm gonna stick to winrar or such stuff

EDIT: RPG Maker 2003 is supposed to be compatible with XP, as it was released in 2002 and everyone on french forums can run it fine on XP.

Multi-language. I doubt language has anything to do with it, though. Your game doesn't have any special encoding.

Yeah, but can special characters with accents play a role in this? Because maybe the produced files have special character used inside them

Diacritical letters are standard with English character sets.

Ok thats one good thing to hear

Now I am glad that the crash didn't occured on you, meaning it's not the game that have problems nor me who did something wrong (hopefully), but i'm still curious about what was the error message and what causes it for some people :/confused.gif

Since you were able to run it on two different XP systems, and I was able to run it on my 2000 system, I don't think XP is the problem. I think it's just a coincidence that the people who had problems with the game were both using XP. It may be a problem specific to their video adapters, for example.

I wouldn't worry about it. Just include a notation in the readme about possible crashes with some systems. :)smile.gif

who were the other two people to test. i believe the most common bug is, EOBCAK of something. error occurs between chair and keyboard. seeing as how even netham on vista was able to run it and grendale on xp could, that may be the problem. now im not sure who you asked to test it, and i dont want to insult anyone obviously, but i think that may be the problem. im testing it once it dl's, ill give results shortly.

it worked good, i beat the first cavern, assuming the error occurs right after they go "we are less strong than three days ago" or something. also audio is better than in the last game :)smile.gif the audio error is gone, like i said it would be. the only problem i saw was that the rightmost edge of the screen was cut off. so when people were talking, 2 letters were missing. i dont think its my monitor but idk, i wouldnt worry about it though.

i think the error may be related to issues with rpg maker handling mp3s, altoughb I was sure it was fixed in 1.09, but nitacku patched the mp3s anyway, now I,m waiting to see if he can run the game properly. If it's not that then it must be their sound card or their video card. The two people who got the error were Nitacku and dysfunction (from maxcoderz)

update: it was effectively related to the mp3s, thanks nitacku for converting them. Idk why it happened though, because in the readme for RPG Maker 2003 1.09 it says this issue was fixed...
