Title: Do you read ebooks on your calc?
Post by: flyingfisch on July 05, 2012, 04:43:51 pm
Just curious about how many people read ebooks on their calcs.

I read gutenberg.org ebooks on my prizm with Noteview.

I don't, but I think I should try some time. (I've never before)

Also maybe you should create a poll. :)

It's a religious book for church.

I'm looking for more books now.

Next to the "Notify" button on the bottom of the page is an "Add Poll" option. ;)

I voted No, because I have better ways to spend memory than on an ebook reader and some ebooks.

I have a device for reading, otherwise I might try reading on my Nspire.

How does one read ebooks on a calc anyway?

With a text reader. Most of the time you can get the ebook in plain text format

Ah, I see. I was thinking in like an EPUB type format...

Someone should make an EPUB reader for calcs...

You can use TI-Doc for example. It even supports images to insert into your text file :)

I've done it before, but it's not something I do very often. My tool of choice is Flashbook (http://sourceforge.net/projects/flashbook/). It creates a stand-alone app, supports sizes up to all of Flash, and supports compression, too.
For anyone interested in lojban, I created a version of the reference guide. It's attached to this post. (Warning: it comes in at about 600KB, as I recall, probably making it 83+SE/84+SE only)

It's something I've considered, but I've never tried before on any of my Calcs. Could be interesting, especially on a TI-nspire. I used to read ebook txts on my MP4 before I put solder over a part that made it incapable of outputting sound (I could still read ebooks on it I guess).

I once thought about it but the size was far to large for my calc.....

They should only be a few KB at most right? Unless it's a long text.

I have never read any eBook on my calc. The only one I ever checked already had the entire text written in the calcg.org description and it was 50 fun things to do at Walmart.
