"Eragon" has been popping up every once in a while in the forums and IRC. What do you all think of it?

I'm not gonna see the movie, I've already read both books and i know what happens. I would just be the person in the crowd yelling out what's going to happen, thus getting myself kicked out of the theatre and wasting my money.
So long story short...I'm not gonna see it.

I never read the books, but I heard they were good. I did watch the movie and it was painfully bad. Extremely overdramatic music + way overdone acting + big a** plot holes = teh bad. The dialogue was the worst I ever heard. I did gain some mild entertainment from it as I went with a bunch of friends and we could poke fun at the movie as it went.
I kinda want to read the books now though... see if they are as good as people say and how the hell they screwed up so bad in the movie.

Dang the movie must have been bad.
But the books, if you like fantasy books, are really really really really good. But since you've seen the movie, the book s are probably ruined, but you should read them anyway.

I own the books and they own me.
No matter what, I wanna see the movie. Even if it's as bad as they say it is. Even if I get a seat soaked in coke.
step1: watch.
step2: rant.
step3: wait for the third book.

besides LOTR and Harry Potter in most case I found that movies based on books always sucks. Even LOTR/HP has lacking because they cut down on scenes (altough they are still good)

I thought the movie was enjoyable, especially since there aren't many movies in that genre that are even considered decent.
I will agree some of it was not that great, I felt the overall movie was good enough that I will own it when it comes out.
Oh, and I am currently reading the first book... I have already noticed how much was removed... :knight:

I have read both books, but have not seen the movie. IMHO, Eragon and Eldest aren't that good. If you pay close attention, a lot of stuff was copied from LOTR and Star Wars Original Trilogy (think Brom as Ben Kenobi, the teacher guy in Eldest Yoda, Murtagh Darth Vader, Galbatorix Emperor Palpatine, etc).
I've seen the game that came out for Eragon and played the demo and it is the stupidest game I have ever seen...

About the author though:
He was only like 16 when he wrote the first one.
His parents had to sell their farm to get the first book published.
so...
MAJOR PROPS for him.
If anybody else knows anything special, please post.

I knew that this thread would be a hit.
I congradulate the author for writing Eragon when he was so young and for it even becoming a reasonably popular movie.
I personally didn't really enjoy the movie though. It was just too "cheesy." The whole story seemed a bit rushed. Some parts were OK, but overall, I didn't really enjoy it. Maybe the book is better. A year or so ago, I read the first few pages of the book and was bored. I might give it another chance, but I already know what happens.
