lol not that's the spirit. I might just see the movie to get pissed. Maybe it'll spark some thing that'll make me want to read again and i'll read the books again.
Just maybe...

Well, I decided to see Eragon on a flight with Virgin Atlantic from San Francisco to London (I also saw Flushed Away, 300, and a couple of TV shows too), and the movie was terrible. Not only were almost all the facts incorrect (Brom getting killed by Durza, Saphira telling Eragon her name instead of Eragon naming her, Arya being awake when she was rescued, etc.), but the movie left some parts out completely, including Yazuac, Teirm, Dras Leona, Helgrind, and the entire Hadarac Desert. Also, the mountain chains they used for the Spine, the Beor Mountains, and the mountains beside Gil'ead were the same mountain chain IRL. The characters' faces were unintelligent and displayed no complex emotions and the music tried to be heroic but sounded completely clicheic and horrible. Overall, don't watch the movie.
My description of the book is a bit earlier into the thread, and my enthusiasm for the book is only a bit larger than for the movie.

the books ok.
but have you ever seen chronicles of narnia?
It make The eragon book series look like they are.
They are written by one of J. R. R. Tolkien friends or so I here. They at least went to the same pub.
also the guy who wrote them was a Theologan.

I read the book and saw the movie, and the movie didn't follow the book's story very well... I wonder how they will do eldest if they make it a movie, I am not sure they can make a sequel...

I never read the book but I heard it was good.
I watched the movie and... OH GOD I have rarely seen anything worse. Terrible acting, plot that makes no sense whatsoever, and the most cheesy lines I have ever heard. It was a good thing I went with friends so we could make fun of it the entire time. Otherwise, I think I might have walked out of the theater.

what?!?! a little bit better. thats a massive understatement.
the plot of the LOTR movies were as close to the Eragon book as the eragon movie was to it. the movie was so far off its ridiculous. and no i dont think they're gona be doing eldest because number one: whoever made the movie should either be dead or in hiding and two they f'ed up all over the place. like 1/4 of book 2 is about eragon and arya. eragon loves her, and she can't love him back. but in the movie eragon, there is already mutual love. also the twins were not mentioned, but i guess you could get around them if its assumed that urgals would have regularly been able to overpower aizihad even though his entire honor guard was taken out by the twins in the book. also solembum's prophecy is never mentioned thouogh that will be more important in the third book. and i guess either the first half of book two would have to be skipped as arya already left the varden for ellesmera or that entire segment would have to be done without her even leaving them with no choise but to lie about how eragon enters ellesmera. also the Razac are dead, so the entire segment about roran would have to be made up not to mention that they will be playing a major part in book 3 also that merchant guy that is friends with brom, he was never seen so once again the entire roran segment of the second movie would end up being a big lie. over all, its either gona suck more than the first movie or it wont happen
the only part of the book the really nailed was the first ~3-5 minutes aka the prolouge. after that it seems they just toook the different parts of eragon and mixed em all up and that was the script. eg. saphira grows up in like minute 7, the herbalists prophesy haapens in the same town as eragon learns magic. it seems they also decided not to limit themselves by sticking to the book at all. spells are made up that give eragon xray vision and they decided to take some parts from eldest by having arya leave the varden.
comparing the book to the movie is worse than comparing the hitchhiker books to that movie, for all of you that have seen that.
this post was writen with a half hour of my time in the hopes that i am able to save 3 hours of yours (2.5 hours of movie, .5 hours of crying).

I haven't read any of the Inheritance books, but they're on my summer reading list. Right after Deathly Hallows...
And before you ask, I read the first book in the Narnia series
