Is Dumbledore Really Dead?
« on: December 09, 2005, 03:04:00 am »
You all are probably saying "Of course he is dead.  He was hit with a killing curse, and thrown off the top of a castle.  He has to be dead!"  But is he?  If you examine the book further, you will see that Dumbledore may not be dead at all.  Here are some of the clues that I found:

     1. Whenever anyone else was hit with the "Avada Kedavra", they fell on the spot and died instantly.  Why then was Dumbledore thrown off the tower of the castle when he was hit by it.
     2. Minutes before he was "killed" he talked to Draco about coming over to the right side.  He mentioned that the Order of the Phoenix could hide somebody so well that it would appear to the rest of the world that they were dead.  (wink wink) ;)wink.gif How do we know that Dumbledore didn't use this same protection for himself.
     3. Why didn't Fawkes save him?  In previous books, Fawkes has shown an amazing sense for danger and when someone is in trouble.  He saved Harry in the Chamber of Secrets by bringing him the sword and saved Dumbledore in the Order of the Phoenix by swallowing one of the killing curses sent at him.  Why then was Fawkes absent at this crucial time in Dumbledore's life?
     4.  Did Snape really mean it?  By the way J.K. Rowling wrote the book, the readers are to believe that Snape hoodwinked Dumbledore into believing that he came back and worked for the Order.  How do we know though that the reader hasn't been hoodwinked and that Snape really was working on Dumbledore's orders.  In the Order of the Phoenix, we find out that you really have to mean an Unforgivable curse for it to work.  Harry tried to cast the Cruciatus Curse on Bellatrax Lestrange and she barely felt any pain.  She said it was because Harry really had to want to inflict pain in order to cause some.  Therefore, if Snape didn't want to kill him because he was really working on Dumbledore's orders, no matter how many times he hit Dumbledore with the Avada Kedavra spell, he wouldn't of died because Snape didn't really want him to be killed.
     5.  Where is Dumbledore's wand?  Now, You might be asking yourself "What does that have to do with anything???"  Actually it means a lot but you have to dig to find this one.  If you look 5 chapters back when Harry and Slughorn are singing, they sing this part of a song:
QUOTE
"And Odo the hero, they bore him back home,
To the place that he'd known as a lad,
They laid him to rest with his hat inside out
And his wand snapped in two, which was sad"

You see, when a wizard dies, it is customary to snap his wand in half and bury him with it.  Why then, when J.K. Rowling went into so much detail describing Dumbledore's funeral, did she not mention anything about his wand.  Is it because he still needs it because he may still be alive??  It is possible.
     6. During the course of the sixth book, we see a strong emphasis on the use of silent spells.  Although it may just seem as another struggle Harry and his friends have at school, it could be the link as to why Dumbledore flew when he was hit by the spell (see proof 1).  Because Snape says "Avada Kedavra" when he casts the spell, the reader is to belive that he cast that spell.  However, how do we know that, although Snape said "Avada Kedavra", he didn't perform a totally different silent spell that caused Dumbledore to fly off the castle and appear to be hurt while actually being unharmed.
     7. Where's Dumbledore's body?  The last time the reader sees his body is when Harry kneels over it a short time after he is "killed".  When Hagrid brings his body in for the funeral, it is wrapped in 'purple velvet spangled with golden stars'.  So we never see his body at the funeral.  Then how do we know if it was even there???
     8. And then theres the fire at the funeral.  Part of the funeral service is where a large fire erupts around Dumbledore's body, and his body is encased in a white marble tomb.  However, who started the fire.  Well you may be saying there were hundreds of wizards around and any one of them could've started it.  However, look at this.  What else do we know that has a habit of suddenly erupting into flames.  Fawkes.  And, whats more, Fawkes comes back to life after everytime he does this.  How do we know that Dumbledore doesn't have a similar power.  After all, Dumbledore was/is the greatest wizard that ever lived.  In case a reader didn't catch that first clue, J.K. Rowling offers us another one.  She mentions:

-->
QUOTE
White smoke spiraled into the air and made strange shapes: Harry thought, for one heart-stopping moment, that he saw a phoenix fly joyfully into the blue, but next second the fire had vanished
Another theory could be that Dumbledore is an animagus and can turn into a Phoenix.  Then wouldn't he get all of the special things that the animal he turns into can do.  Then it would seem very logical that Dumbledore could come back to life.
