The other thing to keep in mind is that the ones that do get through are obliterated fairly quickly. If I see a username I am unfamiliar with I always check that person's profile and look at their posts to see if anything is out of order. Regular members are also quick to mention spam bots, so this helps us with dealing with them quickly. We have a good mod team that stays on top of these things. :D

I definitively noticed fewer bots spamming Cemetech and Omnimaga lately, but on Ticalc.org the site traffic seems to be up compared to 2011 and on Omnimaga, despite the lower activity in general, the traffic still seems quite high. I wonder if those are lurkers/people downloading stuff/searching help (maybe people ask less help since most stuff was already answered) or if they're mostly bots?
