Ashbad, I hope you're right. But I fear that Osama was good at recruiting and his death will allow his generals or other higher command to make him into a martyr, which could make him even influential in death than in life.

Also, people are cheering because he was responsible for some horrific acts. That doesn't make it okay to cheer for his death, but some people disagree.

I'm not saying that it wasn't Osama who was responsible for 9/11, I just don't know it. There isn't real proof(that I'm aware of) that Osama did it. It might be that Bush was responsible for this, and his plan was to find a reason to have war. But I truly don't know the truth.

I hope this thread doesn't turn into a conspiracy thread or something, but personally, it has been so long since the 9/11 attacks that regardless of if Osama is dead or not, I doubt this will make any differences at this point, as there are most likely a lot of other people who did or will replace him. ALso people are happy he is dead because he was involved in 9/11 and/or threatened USA a lot in videos afterward.

To tell the truth, I'm not quite sure I buy that one -- I DO believe it was the mafia who killed JFK and probably not Lee Harry Oswald, but I doubt Bush would have anything to do with the setup of 9/11 -- He may be a little bit stupid at times, but you can't say that he wasn't patriotic and that he didn't have good intentions.  Trust me, if anything he wanted to find a reason NOT to have a war.  A war never looks good on a president's portfolio.

Yeah, neither the war in Afghanistan or in Irak looked good in Bush's portfolio.

This is exactly my point as well. I am fine with the idea that maybe Osama wasn't responsible, but I am telling you there is certainly no good reason why Bush would want to do such a thing to his own country. As Ashbad said, Bush may have been stupid at times, but he was certainly patriotic. Planning this attack would not have helped his ratings in the least -.- (They certainly could have used some assistance, that's for sure)

And I'm sure that with all the technology police, FBI and other groups use to investigate, that they would have managed to find out a long time ago.

It's interesting to see the mainstream media pretty much admitting that somebody needed killing, which they so rarely do. Usually they croon over how "justice has been served" when a murderer gets a 10 year sentence (of which he will end up serving 5, because prison is expensive), and ignore inconvenient facts like the high probability of recidivism.

I am, quite frankly, very happy he is dead, numerous of my friends were scarred because they had parent(s) who died on 9/11 and, actually, about a week before the attack I VISITED  the twin towers, if these people decided to attack a few days before... well... I probably would not be even making this post.... This man killed thousands just because he dislikes our ways, I do hope he does burn in hell, and (willing) members of Al-Quieda follow him.

btw, he was given a choice if to come nicely, or be shot... well, I think we can see the choice, he chose to die D:

Stephan, I am afraid your statements are getting a thumbs down from me, sorry :( Bush, or any US offical, being in charge or knowing about the attacks beforehand is as believable as Osama owning snapple imao :D

I love how people who don't agree with our views like to rate us down *(^~^)-^

Well that was obviously gonna happen, if we got him he would probably go to some torture site, I would do the same thing :P better a shot in the head than 1000 hours of being waterboarded -- and unlike most people we torture, few would protest his punishment.

I'm very sorry to hear about your friend's losses, I wish them the best of luck dealing with it.  However, sentencing someone to hell shouldn't be taken lightly, IMHO.

Ashbad, I rated you down because you were trying to start conspiracies with Stefan in the thread and trying to start a fight against those who are happy a terrorist is dead and won't risk causing more trouble. Also you are attacking me for rating down your post. Trust me but your hidden message was easy to see:

I love how people who don't agree with our views like to rate us down *(^~^)-^ I personally find that quite lame, and childlike, but oh well, your choice, not mine.

Personally when he died, I was not happy that he was dead, but rather that there is one less terrorist in the world.

Btw just to show how bad the 9/11 events were for people, they even got a front page news article on ticalc.org back in the days. I think that was the only time ticalc.org posted a non-calc/ticalc related news article on their site that wasn't a fake news:

I was trying to start conspiracies? O.o I don't remember that, I know stefan stated some though, and I only posted what were my own opinions, without jabbing at others' opinions.  but fine, I understand.

I agree though, I don't like to think someone died, but it is nice there is one less terrorist in the world, hard to argue that.

It seemed like you were trying to imply that the conspiracies were right and side with stefan views that Bush was the one responsible for 9/11, then you attacked people who made jokes about Bin Laden death, even though 3000 people died due to him. It's obvious that with his death, people suddently release a lot of tension in the heat of the moment, and in most cases, it was done with jokes, trying to start internet memes and celebrating in the streets. I am sure a lot of people thought about the 3000 people that died when they heard about the death, then had a moment of joy.

The thing is that vengeance is part of human nature. Although it might sound wrong, it's obvious that when someone kills 3000 people in your country, even worse when there are family members among them, you'll want that murderer/terrorist to know the same fate as them.

* Qwerty.55 doesn't exactly like the direction this thread appears to be headed...

How about we all agree that no matter what our feelings about Bin Laden's death, it's over and with any luck, the war will be soon.

EDIT: Equalized the respect. As it stands, no one on this page of the thread had their respect changed by this page. If you disagree with my opposite voting, please say so.
