You're saying exactly the same thing as my mother. :P
Speed solving requires a lot of practice so you still have some hard work. ;) Also it's a nice trick to amaze noobs. :P And nothing prevents you from trying to get headaches and create you own algorithms. ;)

Lol, should I be happy that you compare me to your mother or not ?

Note: the answer's I'll write below in italics are not what I think, they are just opposed arguments to Streetwalker's arguments.

Not really an argument. Someone "against" Rubik's Cubes would tell you that you just said that it was wasting a lot of time.

Also it's a nice trick to amaze noobs. :P
There are other ways to amaze people than solving a Cube. For example, I could do a knot with a cord and undo it (same thing than messing a Cube then putting it back together).

So yeah, I am not saying that you are wrong, nor than the person I just imitated is right, just that your arguments didn't really convinced me (and the arguments of the person I imitated didn't convince me either, there is quite a difference between a cord and a Cube).

And nothing prevents you from trying to get headaches and create you own algorithms. ;)
This is what I would (try to) do if I ever went into Rubik's Cube, because that would be interesting (but I wouldn't manage).

I use my Cube as a relaxing element (flushing my though-flow into oblivion), amidoinrite?

That is a good argument. I also thought of another: when boredom gets you, get a Cube (even though that works for other things than Cubes).

Strangely, sometimes, it helps me into focusing in other thoughts.

(I don't how to solve the CUbe, I only know how to do the 2 first rings.)

What method do you guys use?
Also, favorite speedcube?
Wall of text:
I managed to solve 4 on my own before learning how. I learned the guide in 20 mintues and my durrent record with a storebought, Peroleum Jelly (Vaseline) lubricated 3x3x3 Rubik's official brand cube is just under 40 seconds, and it was no luck. I don't count any solve that skipped more than one step for any of the methods I know. My average is around 47 seconds and it is dwindling down by the day, as I have become thoroughly addicted. I'm getting an Aurora speedcube soon. Stickerless isn't competition legal, I don't think, and since I plan on competing when I get my times down to 30 seconds, I don't see the point in buying a cub eI can't use. I hope they don't replace mine in the competitions, though. Stickers or tiles? Stickers.Cubesmith has replacemen stickers that will outlast your plastic if you apply them right. Oh, and NEVER EVER use Petroleum Jelly like I did, use CFC Silicone spray. I'm planning on buying a large bundle of speedcubes and other sizes like 2x2x2-5x5x5 on Saturday. I'm almost done learning F2L, which is MUCH easier than PLL or OLL. I decided not to "simply apply what I learnt," as someone said earlier. I invented a new method of OLL and PLL that takes me about 5-10 seconds at this speed. Petrus is my fastest method, with Fridrich being second fastest. I'm learning Roux and Heiss at the same time, but they are significantly harder to learn than the others. I also attempted ZZ, but I'm going to only learn 2 at a time. Knowing more methods means you can intuitively solve faster and build yoiur own using steps from others. My speedsolving method is currently hybrid Petrus/Fridrich.

wow, that was a huge wall of text.
So yeah, i avarage on my 8x8x8 cube at about 30 min :)
Also: i don't have a cube that i can't solve, and for all my cubes i came up with algorythms on my own :)
one of my fav cubes is probably the square-1

I haven't used a square-1 yet! I just ordered a Dayan Zhanchi, later I'll be ordering Shengshou's of sizes 2x2x2-5x5x5 and a Shengshou Aurora. I can't find ANY regulation timers!
Keep trying.

Are the dollar store rubik cubes any decent btw? I kinda don't want to spend $19.99 on a rubik cube at L'Imaginaire. X.x

Well, it generally depends. To get a generic rubiks cube working nicely, lubrication is pretty much a must ;)

I'm interested in getting a speed cube now. Any advice on choosing a good one ?

Edit : I lubricated my Rubik's and now it rotates faster, but I still have the corner cutting issue (that's pretty annoying). I'm considering modding it a little bit (with this method and maybe also Florian mod), and getting a proper lube (unless bike chain lube works, I used the cream that I put on my face XD). Also I'm considering getting a Dayan Zhanchi or Panshi.

And I also lowered my average to less than 2 minutes. Also my new personnal record is 1'29". :D

Edit 2 : And then I did 1'27". :D

Edit 3 : 1'23"

Edit 4 : 1'14" (although this one skipped me the last step)

I ordered a speedcube today, that dayan stickerless one.  I can solve my cube in about 4 minutes now, but I need to learn some more algorithms.
I'm not a nerd but I pretend:
