Yeah, I just found my perfect, black-red theme.
This screenie captures nothing of the true feeling of it. Right-click menus are black, the start menu is black, everything with red highlights.
With WindowsFX 3.0, my comp is totally pwnsome!
I just wish WFX would work with TrueTransparency...

yeah it sucks that most skinning hacks aren't free, because it's hard to find a good download of them and we cannot provide them on forums because it would be against rules

WindowsFX has a free trial version. It's for animating stuff...it's kind of taxing, so I wouldn't recommend it. However, I suggest looking

to tweak Windows so you can use any .msstyle file. You can find those at Deviant art; they're usually referred to as "Visual Styles" or "VS's".

WindowBlinds, and most other

, software, has a free version.
Here's my new Windows XP desktop:

(I've decided to not use the Mac OS-like dock for now, although I can always easily re-enable it)

the free version of blinds only lasts 60 days and it spams you to register whenever you boot.

I find that WindowBlinds eats a lot of the system resources, so I stick with hacked XP
.
However, I stumbled upon
http://www.stardock.com/products/thememanager/
, also a StarDock product, but it's free, and in general handles WindowsBlinds, IconPackager, CursorXP...you get the idea
.

That's an insane amount of shortcuts on the desktop. %)
I like the blur effect when the menu overlaps the icons.
Is that genuine Vista or an awesomely skinned XP?
Dang, what resolution is that? 3000 x 1000
