Stereotypes
« on: June 30, 2006, 01:13:00 pm »
I hate them. Stop them.
I my program calcs, but that doesn't mean I'm a genius with no life! (Well, the no life part is right...)
Stereotypes are bad.

Now my little experience, my real reason for creating this topic...

I was watching TV, and I flipped to the Korean network. Subtitling their shows/news can be fun. ^^
The news segment started, with the english words "OBESITY IN KOREA" flying across the screen. I was fine with it.
The thing flipped between fat people jogging and fat kids being forced to eat vegetables/fruits, until...
They jumped to something like a school gym. I thought to myself, "hmm, exercise. I wonder what sport..."
The camera slowly looked down, eventually enough to see hundreds of large televisions.
WTF! They were doing DDR!!! Literally, I laughed, I cried, I cursed at the ignorance of humanity, I changed the channel.

Phear my crude humor! :knight:knight3.gif
But now I'm wondering if DDR exercise actually works...
One of these days I'll get a sig I'm really proud of.

Dude sterotypes suck. Like my friend is an awesome BASIC coder and loves to do it whenever he can but when his friends are around he acts like he hates calculators. It's totally gay there shouldn't be peer pressure like that.
There are 10 types of people in this world-- those that can read binary, and those that can't.

That really a problem with society.  i see too many people selling themselves out to others because they cant accept them the way they are.  humans are selfish, ignorant beings and the only way we can advance is through the understanding of others.  society is a selfconcious entity, viciously protecting itself from anything it does not understand.  case in point, Eon8.com  all it was was a mysterious timer that counted down.  people thought it was terrorists and a million other things.  police were involved, ppl even tried to hack it.  when it hit 0, nothing happened.  it was just another social experiment to prove how f***in stupid some ppl are.  trust me, you dont want to be friends with one of those ppl.  (if you fell for that, you better have a damn good reason  :Ptongue.gif )  oh ya, IGT2>DDR.

word.

I don't like stereotyping.  Unless you're talking about "stereo-typing" or unless the stereotyping results in a good thing.

Sometimes a good thing. For example, people think just because you know how to do cool stuff on the calculator that your average person has probably never seen before, they think that you can do almost anything on the computer, which can make you popular really fast, especially if you do a lot of cool stuff on the computer too that no one has really seen or done before or that people can use to their advantage.

But it did almost get me in really big trouble a few times (okay a lot - since the sixth grade) though 'cause the admins kept hearing people talking about "I'm going to/planning to/know how to hack into the school's computers," and stuff like that and the admins call me to the office and aks me all these questions...

...but then again, I actually /did/ do it just the first semester and /did/ get into really big trouble...

That's not stereotyping, it's a good idea is what it is. :Ptongue.gif DDR is a great and fun videogame and it's excercise too! I'm really pooped after playing DDR for hours w/ my friends, and that's when I only get on the pads every 3 songs or so!
