The Beauty of Dreams
« on: January 07, 2010, 11:16:03 am »
It's so fascinating...sometimes when we think our minds could not come up with anything more creative, our dreams give us some fresh inspiration.

I'll list two examples that happened to me, and then maybe you could all list some of your examples.

1. Anyone see Disney's Jungle Book 2?  Like most direct-to-DVD sequels, I hated it.  My dreams actually came out with a much better plot than the original movie had.
2. Pretty much most of you know me for inventing the concept of S.A.D.  Guess what?  Last night, I dreamed of another, completely new RTS game involving railroading, with once again, a new concept never done before.  It's interesting that this concept would also work very well for calculators, although I plan to stop with calculator games after S.A.D. is done.  Maybe for a computer game, or something...

Haha yeah, when I was struggling to write a college essay, and could not think of anything to write, I dreamed about my past that i completely forgot about. The dream pretty much answered the essay problem, and i easily wrote that essay when i woke up ^^

Spoiler For funny life mathematics:
1. ROMANCE MATHEMATICS
Smart man + smart woman = romance
Smart man + dumb woman = affair
Dumb man + smart woman = marriage
Dumb man + dumb woman = pregnancy
2. OFFICE ARITHMETIC
Smart boss + smart employee = profit
Smart boss + dumb employee = production
Dumb boss + smart employee = promotion
Dumb boss + dumb employee = overtime
3. SHOPPING MATH
A man will pay $2 for a $1 item he needs.
A woman will pay $1 for a $2 item that she doesn't need.
4. GENERAL EQUATIONS & STATISTICS
A woman worries about the future until she gets a husband.
A man never worries about the future until he gets a wife.
A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend.
A successful woman is one who can find such a man.
5. HAPPINESS
To be happy with a man, you must understand him a lot and love him a little.
To be happy with a woman, you must love her a lot and not try to understand her at all.
6. LONGEVITY
Married men live longer than single men do, but married men are a lot more willing to die.
7. PROPENSITY TO CHANGE
A woman marries a man expecting he will change, but he doesn't.
A man marries a woman expecting that she won't change, and she does.
8. DISCUSSION TECHNIQUE
A woman has the last word in any argument.
Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument.

Girls = Time * Money (Girls are a combination of time and money)
Time = Money (Time is money)
Girls = Money squared (So, girls are money squared)
Money = sqrt(Evil) (Money is also the root of all evil)
Girls = sqrt(Evil) squared (So, girls are the root of all evil squared)
Girls = Evil (Thus, girls are evil)

Sometimes I get more inspiration for projects when I am sleeping (usually by dreaming) or when I am not home. I tend to not get that much when dreaming, though.

Hopefully or not, I don't have that kind of dreams. :o Maybe I don't employ much worries about things to do.

But sometimes I get some strange dreams that seem so real because they have images with many details and some coherence. And I can't figure where the plot of the dream comes from...

And I hate dreams that remember a tornado of thoughts I had last days because they are just tiresome as my daily thinking. :(

Would you guys think any less of me if I said I do math problems in my dreams, and on more than one occasion I've woken up to find an answer to a long-ass problem I'd been working on for days scribbled on the scratch paper on my desk, with no memory of doing it?

i usually either lucid dream, dream something random and forget it or dream about games, but personally i find the best source of inspiration comes at the end of a bout of depression

My dreams get extremely vivid sometimes, and I've had a lot of interesting ideas born from them. What's really neat is when you become aware in the dream and are able to manipulate it however you choose.

I had a lucid dream last night ^^.  It was cool because before i realized i was dreaming, there was a kind of buildup of conflict, with certain characters being bullied by others, and then i became 'lucid' and totally pwned everybody, and managed to get the dream to end at the exact moment where everything was concluded :)
