As of today, my daughter finally has moved into a new an accomodation in Paris, (i.e., a tiny room, near Jardin du Luxembourg) for about 500€/month. Although not completely affordable (the stay will last for a max of 6 months), she seems to be quite happy. Oh well, I thought some of you would like to know. :)

Nice to hear. This seems kinda on-par with student appartments near the University in Quebec City. However most people here rent them with two friends in other to afford it. I hope your daughter doesn't have too much trouble meeting both ends. Can she go to school by walking or do she have to use public transit?

To find a room-mate for such short stays isn't that easy. But i agree it would the most convenient, whenever possible. Actually, she is a medical student and her 'school' will be some nearby hospital to where she can walk and have some practice as a trainee. Hence the choice somewhat expensive i must admit.
