He just seems kind of evil when I inevitably compare him to say, Bill Gates, who is now a full-time charity worker.

Maybe Bill Gates has given more away, but then again he is more rich than Steve Jobs (I think).
Apple has also embraced open source long before Microsoft, and accepted Linux (for example).

If I would start a company, and billions of people would tell me what to do, I would ignore them. Its still my company, and the decisions are made by me.

Edit: sorry for the half post before, I have a keyboard controller that got crazy D:

also in the link you posted:

you'll note that was long before he came back and ended all the charity programs. It doesn't matter that Microsoft is bigger, Apple Inc charges an outrageous price for their products, and don't tell me there was no cash to spare.

@Ralph I think it's mostly about the fact that once they die, people subconsciously realize that the person was actually human.

Not to mention being dead is about as handicapped as you can get, and people don't curse handicapped people for their problems nearly as much as they curse wealthy celebrities.

That's very true.  I think it's sad that people don't recognize these great people while they are alive.  :(

While it's true that Jobs didn't save the world from destruction, he has been an inspiration to many.

I thought that doctor who was in charge of Michael Jackson was already charged with Manslaughter(?)
Why is he getting another chance?
Because he has a good lawyer.

It's sad that people like this have to go so soon, but you view their work differently after their death.  If MJ hadn't passed yet, people would still think of him as a child predator.  If Steve Jobs had not died yet, windows fanboys would still use his name as a curse.
It seems that death can change people's perspective on a subject.  Even Jobs recognized that in his Stanford speech.
Lol child predator...
Even after he died, people still call him names like "child molester"
"Holocaust Survivor"
"Wannabe Whity" and more rude names.
