Where I live, there are a few legends, many of them not really good enough to share.  But this one scared me:

20 years ago, a young boy once saw a fox in his backyard, and naively let it into his house.  He woke up the next morning to see that all that remained of his family were huge gory pieces of humans.  He then saw the fox again roaming the house and it ran up to him lovingly and laid down at his feet.  Knowing the fox had killed his family, he grabbed a kitchen. Knife and killed it.  What he didn't realize was that it wasn't the fox who killed them, it was burglar with a machete, which jumped out behind a door after the boy was done on his murdering and started brutally cutting him to shreds.

The fox's spirit was wrongly claimed, and it went back to the earth and haunted living foxes, having them harm humans in revenge.  His spirit, named Rabies, still haunt us 20 years later -- this is why where I live has common problems with people getting assaulted with rabid foxes.

The thing is, right after I heard this on a camping trip, my friend saw a rabid fox running around in circles 50 feet from MY tent. I'll admit that I couldn't sleep for a week in fear of foxes.

I didn't know of any where I used to live, in Michigan. I just moved to Washington, so hopefully, I'll pick up on some here.
