Why did you learn how to program?
«

Read the subject!
I liked the ability to manipulate something in any way, as well as making my own games...
When I heard that the Ti-83+SE could get games on it I downloaded them and played them for a long time...
I then wanted to make my own game, as a fan of rougelike's my destiny was then written...
How or why did you start to program? (And please don't make some kind of smart alec comment
)

I only started programming because butts kept bothering me to do it. I really, REALLY didn't want to, but then I finally gave in.
And now I am happy that he showed me!!!

I had a friend show me (Thundermagnet). I first showed him how I learned to display stuff, and he showed me one of his games, and I was hooked! Haven't stopped coding yet!

I started to learn because I was just intrigued. I had no intention of getting as far as I have, I just wanted a fast way to make and compute algorithms. I think the first thing I wanted to do was make a prime tester, but I cannot remember. I still use my calc often to compute algorithms, but I obviously do more than that, now ♥

I learned because I want to be able to literally tell the computer what to do, and how to do it. I was interested in the level of control over the computer that programming gave me.

IMPORTANT NEWS!
:
Late last night, Quebec was invaded by a group calling themselves, "Omnimaga". Not much is known about these mysterious people except that they all carried calculators of some kind and they all seemed to converge on one house in particular. Experts estimate that the combined power of their fabled calculators is greater than all the worlds super computers put together. The group seems to be holding out in the home of a certain DJ_O, who the Omnimagians claim to be their founder. Such power has put the world at a standstill with everyone waiting to see what the Omnimagians will do...
Wait... This just in, the Omnimagians have sent the UN a list of demands that must be met or else the world will be "submitted to the wrath of Netham45's Lobster Army". Such demands include >9001 crates of peanuts, sacrificial blue lobsters, and a wide assortment of cherry flavored items. With such computing power stored in the hands of such people, we can only hope these demands are met.
In the wake of these events, we can only ask, Why? Why do these people make these demands, what caused them to gather, and what are their future plans...

I learned it because it was always a dream for me to try making games when I was kid. I didn't care as much about the coding as I did about the game creation, though.

featured programs
list (and eventually got bored
), I wanted to make my own.

Don't remember, it had been a while. Probably this HTML for Dummies book I got once. And/or I always been fascinated by computer and I wanted to do advanced stuff on them. Now look where I am. Professional computer scientist.

I started computer programming years before I got my trusty TI-83+. And I started calc programming right after getting this calc.

Yeah, I pretty much slowed down. Then I tried Axe and I got a Prizm.

I only bought my calc to put games on it
But RACE2 a game in BASIC was really ugly (not because it was it was in BASIC, some are really great, but the used characters weren't well chosen) so I edited it !
Then I understood everything the programmer did and started to program my own games
