Arduboy new portable retro gaming system.

Here's a new arduino based gaming system on kickstarter. It has a screen res of 128x64 (same as the TI-86). The screen is black and white. All software is free and opensource. I thought it was pretty neat looking device, so I've backed it and I'm getting a 2 pack of em. Thought it might interest some of the folks here as well. ;)

I think the Arduboy has a big dis-advantage over the Gamebuino ( http://gamebuino.com ) which already exists for way longer: the CPU is weaker, and, more importantly, it doesn't have an SD-Card slot. So every time you want to play a new game you'd have to flash a new one from the computer, while for the gamebuino you just through a bunch of files on the SD-Card and can switch those around.

That's true, but the gamebuino has a lot lower resolution right? Weak CPUs and low memory have never stopped us from deving or gaming on TI calcs either. :P

Arduboy: 128 x 64 screen
Gamebuino: 84 x 48 screen

so it is somewhat bigger, but then again, you'd only be albe to play one game on the arduboy if you take it with you, due to the lacking of the SD-Card.

Oh, and another dis-advantage of the arduboy is that it doesn't have a good speaker and the battery life is shorter. Oh, and the gamebuino looks cooler :D

And the gamebuino also has one more button :P

The I2C and ICSP ports on the gamebuino also allow for custom hardware modules :D
