Atari alarm clock!
« on: August 07, 2012, 06:19:05 pm »
Look what I found! An alarm clock with an fm/am radio, a buzzer and... a small crt tv??
It's only black and white, but it serves well as a monitor for my atari2600 which sits on top of it next to my bed.

Has anyone ever seen or even owned one of these?

Er...
Haw have you callesd that monster? An 'alarm clock'? ???
For me it looks like a computer for those who don't like big screens.

What is it normally used for? (I don't think It was only thought to play games on it)

It's an alarm clock with a built in tv screen. You can choose to wake up to either tv, radio or a buzzer.

Lol Yeong. And sorry for the necro but I did see one of those when I was younger once. I think it was at a big flea market that occured every Sunday in my city. I never got to see an actual Atari, though.

Yes, my parents have owned similar before, though I don't recall if it had a digital alarm clock.

Also, what does a lanturn tv look like? Sounds like a pokemon. :p

The small tv inside the alarm clock emits light even when it's switched off. This is because there is a layer of lumiscent coating on the tube. This "charges" when it's light and when it's dark you can see it emit a dim light. It was annoying tho, so I locked it away :P Now I just rotate my normal CRT TV so I can see it from my bed. It's in color!
