This sucks. I hope American ISPs don't pick up on this idea.
I kinda doubt it. If they are forced to put bandwidth cap to reduce piracy like they did here last year they're not gonna be able to charge too much, because of the competition. In Canada, in each area there are usually 1 or 2 ISPs. In Quebec there are still certain areas stuck with dial-up.

Here in Califronia I have at least 5 ISP's to choose from. The advantage is that the competition really drives down prices. Also we are not charged based off how much we download. What we get is a fixed rate unlimited downloads and different packages are different speeds.

List of stuff I need to do before September:
1. Finish the Emulator of the Casio Prizm (in active development)
2. Finish the the SH3 asm IDE/assembler/linker program (in active development)
3. Create a partial Java virtual machine  for the Prizm (not started)
4. Create Axe for the Prizm with an Axe legacy mode (in planning phase)
5. Develop a large set of C and asm libraries for the Prizm (some progress)
6. Create an emulator of the 83+ for the Prizm (not started)
7. Create a well polished game that showcases the ability of the Casio Prizm (not started)

Yeah, this is why I wish there were more here.

As for now, I got 30 megabits/second modem cable internet and they rose my bandwidth cap from 100 GB to 120 GB up/download combined, but it costs $66.95 a month. Here are the other plans: http://www.videotron.com/service/internet-services/internet-access

I heard that in some places you can get basic internet for $10-15. I am ok with my bandwidth cap, but I wish I had more so I could seed a torrent of all my created music...

I think Bell internet is cheaper, but their phone service is much more expensive and their bureaucracy is so terrible (you can get charged twice and they often had lawsuits for that kind of stuff). If you leave them, they send you a sob letter begging you to come back with them. X.x

When I moved, I had the feeling no ISP at all satisfied my needs and they were all shitty... I took Bell, which is cheaper indeed, I have the 7 Mbits/s with a cap of 100GB/month, which is the best Bell could offer me at my town (I don't know if Vidéotron offers DJ's plan here though...) and, oddly, I didn't got that charge twice problem...

And yes, every ISP still offers 56K dial-up. I even know people who uses them.

Glad you didn't have that charge twice issue. My mom had this happen every 3 month or so (same for many people at work). I guess it's a different person who take care of the East part of the city.

Yeah, also the East part used to have more plans than the West part (for example, the Vidéotron phone service were unavailable in Chutes-de-la-Chaudière-West but not in the rest when it first came out).

True. Actually my Internet plan uses optical fiber and apparently it only started being available where I live a few months ago. Beforehand it was only in Quebec and Montreal.
