looking at some of these links on this website:
http://www.datamath.org/Story/PET_Project.htm
I find it hard to believe they are made by the same company that gave us nSpire OS 2.1, 2.53MP, and other crap like the hardware revision.

The reason it probably never came to fruition is that they wouldn't be allowed on such things as the SAT w/their touch screen
Also, the OS would've probably been locked down too...
I'd be surprised if it wasn't.

Those calculators look very nice! I would love to get my hands on one of them. I keep watching eBay, but nothing ever shows up.

Yeah, they're probably either back in TI's hands or with a collector who'll be unwilling to give them up.
A quick search reveals nothing. In fact, searching all over the internet, there are only a small number of hits, datamath and wikipedia being some of the first results

Yeah it looks like those were never leaked as much. It seems like it was similar to the ClassPad 300 but more powerful.
There's also that news article:

knowing TI though, if those ever get released, they will be way worse than they are now, all in the name of saving a few cents.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised about that, even thought those are already old technology. And even if TI released a 500 MHz calculator, I am sure it would be as limited as the Nspire and maybe even less optimized...
