Portable apps notable releases
« on: October 13, 2009, 06:54:43 pm »
Well I'm a big portable apps user so I was really happy when they actually released a good game
http://portableapps.com/news/2009-10-13_-_assaultcube_portable_1.0.4
but of course it's not the best one, there is another more notable fps in development called nexuiz, and my own personal favourite Warzone 2100 (http://portableapps.com/node/19724)
which is still not fully released, but it is usable so far (not to mention it is an amazing game XD)

Also another notable release is Blender 3D portable (http://portableapps.com/news/2009-09-26_-_blender_portable_2.49b) now you can use your favourite (or my favourite at least) 3D development environment anywhere!

What's your favourite portable app? Discuss.

By portable do you mean no install needed and running from Flash drives? Cuz I doN't really use them much since I am out of school. However, I wonder if there's a portable Starcraft?

There's something called mini-starcraft which fits into even the regular CD-R[W] with 700 MB.
The battlenet works, but then i think it will probably be same as mine, where you can't even talk or join channel, unless you have your own CD-key... Or that's what i think.

Spoiler For funny life mathematics:
1. ROMANCE MATHEMATICS
Smart man + smart woman = romance
Smart man + dumb woman = affair
Dumb man + smart woman = marriage
Dumb man + dumb woman = pregnancy
2. OFFICE ARITHMETIC
Smart boss + smart employee = profit
Smart boss + dumb employee = production
Dumb boss + smart employee = promotion
Dumb boss + dumb employee = overtime
3. SHOPPING MATH
A man will pay $2 for a $1 item he needs.
A woman will pay $1 for a $2 item that she doesn't need.
4. GENERAL EQUATIONS & STATISTICS
A woman worries about the future until she gets a husband.
A man never worries about the future until he gets a wife.
A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend.
A successful woman is one who can find such a man.
5. HAPPINESS
To be happy with a man, you must understand him a lot and love him a little.
To be happy with a woman, you must love her a lot and not try to understand her at all.
6. LONGEVITY
Married men live longer than single men do, but married men are a lot more willing to die.
7. PROPENSITY TO CHANGE
A woman marries a man expecting he will change, but he doesn't.
A man marries a woman expecting that she won't change, and she does.
8. DISCUSSION TECHNIQUE
A woman has the last word in any argument.
Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument.

Girls = Time * Money (Girls are a combination of time and money)
Time = Money (Time is money)
Girls = Money squared (So, girls are money squared)
Money = sqrt(Evil) (Money is also the root of all evil)
Girls = sqrt(Evil) squared (So, girls are the root of all evil squared)
Girls = Evil (Thus, girls are evil)
*Girls=Evil credit goes to Compynerd255*

In hi school I had 2 hours a week of computer access except during the second half of my graduation year where during noon time they decided to keep one of the computer room open everyday, so then I had 3 (altough it was a different room than the one I had class in)

yeah well I have:
-6 hours software (Excel, VB.net, ...)
-4 hours hardware (everything in yr PC and also OS-related stuff)
-2 hours economics ( we mostly don't need a PC for this, but off course, everybody logs in :p )
-1 typing (all features of Word and stuff)

so yeah, some things you have to do on your own, and assaultcube is a fun distraction when you're done :D

Was there a portable version of Opera 10 too?

Btw I don't mind Firefox, better compatibility than Opera in overall, but I don't like having to keep CTRL/ALT/DEL menu opens 100% of the time while browsing just cuz Firefox could crash every 5 minutes and I don't like having to wait 1 minute until Firefox even starts up at all, while I can start Opera in 5 seconds and the rest in 10 seconds max
