Hey guys, some of you might know I'm working with a startup doing augmented reality!  Basically what it is, is a new way to discover new places around you.  You simply point your smart-phone at any building and overlayed on the camera is a descriptive icon.  You can find useful information about each place such as ratings, reviews, menus, contact info, photos, check-ins, and much more.

So if you live in the US and have an Android phone, check us out!  We are planning to eventually expand globally and for iPhone too.  Here's a video demo and a link to our app on the market place: Soragora

Let me know what you guys think.  Try it out if you can, but if not, it would still be useful to know how you would use something like this.  What kind of content would you like to see?  Any negative feedback (we really need some)?  Also, like us on facebook

Thanks  ;D

If you want negative feedback, it looks like the app is a bit jerky/slow in manipulating the screen (although it's understandable why).
Otherwise, it looks awesome and I definitely want it.

This is the kind of thing we'll all be using in the goggles of the future :D

Anyway, good luck. It looks a bit jerky, as Qwerty.55 said, but I don't find that too distracting.

Comments:
The 'Soragora' logo overflowed beyond the sides of the screen slightly on startup and is placed slightly higher then the center of the screen (not sure if those were intentional)
Where its displaying the welcome messages, 'feedback' is misspelled.

We would love your fedback to help build an awesome product that you would love.  Plus, we will give you a virtual hug!
(Love the stick figure thing, btw, and the the whole 'cartoon' look.)

It could have just been my location (or settings on my phone), but it was taking a long time to find my location + I'm in my house right now, so I can't really comment on the actual app itself (just nitpick :P).  I'll re-edit this post (or make a new one) once I actually get a chance to really use this.

Maybe you should add a short page talking any privacy issues?  Just to make people feel a little better?

I have a Samsung Galaxy, btw.

My website: Currently boring.

Projects:
Axe Interpreter
   > Core: Done
   > Memory: Need write code to add constants.
   > Graphics: Rewritten.  Needs to integrate sprites with constants.
   > IO: GetKey done.  Need to add mostly homescreen IO stuff.
Croquette:
   > Stomping bugs
   > Internet version: On hold until I can make my website less boring/broken.

^it's US only at the moment, he said

anyways, if i were to use something like this, one thing i'd love would be an option to search for the place selected via one or more user defined services.

as for comments, what i see in the video looks rather attractive =D

Looks pretty nice. I downloaded it and I'll give it a try next time I'm out.

Spoiler For Projects:

My projects haven't been worked on in a while, so they're all on hiatus for the time being. I do hope to eventually return to them in some form or another...

Spoiler For Pokemon TI:
Axe port of Pokemon Red/Blue to the 83+/84+ family. On hold.

Spoiler For Nostalgia:
My big personal project, an original RPG about dimensional travel and a few heroes tasked with saving the world.
Coding-wise, on hold, but I am re-working the story.

Spoiler For Finale's Super Insane Tunnel Pack of Doom:
I will be combining Blur and Collision Course into a single gamepack. On hold.

Spoiler For Nostalgia Origins: Sky's Story:
Prequel to Nostalgia. On hold, especially while the story is re-worked.

Yeah, that was intentional.  We're going to change it eventually though.

HA!  I can't believe I missed that!

If you're indoors, it will take a VERY long time to get a GPS signal if you even get one at all.  GPS only works outside.

Glad you all like it :)

Looks awesome O.O Why is this in spam though?  Seems like a legitimate awesome project that you are working on, and one that looks to have an enormous amount of potential :)

On an off-topic note I wonder if the app name was a bit inspired from one of the village/location in The Reign of Legends 3? :P

I've queued it for download (my phone's off right now) and I'll test it out on Tuesday! My bus goes by a museum (more of a historical society, but it has the flag that Abraham Lincoln's head rested on when he was shot and has some of his blood on it), so I'll see if it registers that ;)

Okay, so, I've downloaded it and tested it out. It didn't register what I'd hoped it would, but it did show me I think 2 things. The GPS worked relatively fast in finding my location, which was nice. I like the layout, too. Not complicated, easy to navigate, and it's just overall pleasing, imo.

I didn't get to test out the friends part, though. Does that link to any kind of social network, like Facebook, or is it just for friends who have that app as well?
