if you have good enough hardware to manage it, emulating ps2 games at full screen resolution (particularly things like Shadow of the Colossus) looks beautiful, too.

Also, the Gamecube and PS2 use significantly larger resolution textures than the N64 did. (aside from the hack packs available ofc)

Make sure you adjust the texture render size in dolphin or they'll look terrible, though!

Wind Waker HD is also known as emulation through Dolphin. Thanks to the liberal use of Cel-shading, model quality is less important, and you can get extremely high resolutions, not to mention filtered textures :3
YEah I like how in emulators you can get higher resolution than original consoles. Some Nintendo 64 games look better that way, although if there are 2D sprites they can look weird and blurry. On the Xbox 360 I remember if you played Xbox games you could get HD resolution too. I wish it was the case with Wii games on the WiiU.
If you have a powerful enough PC, you can use Dolphin to emulate Wii games at as high a resolution as you want. You can also have it patch in higher resolution textures on the fly if you happen to have some, and use antialiasing and per pixel (rather than per vertex) lighting.

But even with the default textures rendered at a higher resolution it looks really good.

Speaking from a 1280x1024 perspective, so think the 4:3 equivalent of 1080p.

1280x1024 is actually a 5:4 aspect ratio. You want 1280x960 which is 4:3 and also twice that of 640x480 so 2D GUI elements will look the best.

Well, yes, 1280x1024 is 5:4, but I set the Gamecube emulator to 1280x960 (which isn't a standard screen size, but it's used often in software for the 4:3 aspect ration) and thus I have the same effect.

The Wii U gamepad now show ads. Sometimes, it will suddenly turn ON by itself (even with the console turned OFF) then show special offers/promotions on digital games... O.O

Yeah, it's something they added with the Quick Start menu. It was opt-in, but it seems like practically everybody opted in without realizing it, heh. It can be disabled.

Yes, it happened a few minutes ago while I was eating. I didn't use my Wii U for weeks other than a recent update.

I haven't experienced this yet. I should go make sure my gamepad is charged, and that I haven't enabled it.
