Which should I get?
« on: March 27, 2012, 08:27:38 am »
My current camera is crap. It was probably made in 2001 or something like that, and it's huge, and the screen has a huge scratch in it, and I could go on forever. Well, I found a nice looking camera at Wal-Mart with 16 mega-pixels and decent zoom and panorama mode. Well, my current MP3 player is also crap. You can actually see the screen update. (No, the screen's not old, but when scrolling down a list or something, you can actually see a line going down the screen updating it.) So, I was also looking into getting an iPod Nano (the new kind). I need opinions, which of these two should I get (iPod Nano or camera) and why?

Would you consider the iPhone 4s? The camera is like a dslr (for reals, 8mp, it takes HUGE yet high res pictures), and it doubles as ipod and phone.

It is not that I don't like Apple (even though I don't like Apple :P) but why don't you consider buying another MP3 player than an iPod Nano ? For example, mine can read Ogg Vorbis files so I have better quality than with only mp3 support. It also supports Flash so I can have some games on it (not all work) and create custom interfaces myself. So once again, why choose an iPod Nano if there is better ?

But for the general choice, I would say, what do you need the most ? A camera or a MP3 player ? I never use any cameras for myself, so I would choose the MP3 player but maybe you use a camera more than a MP3 player, so you would better choose the camera (or the contrary).

Yeah, If I were you I'd get a iDevice with a camera on it, they have pretty good resolution.
That is, unless you are planning on taking tons of pictures, then I'd shoot for the camera. :)

I would either go with the iPod Touch, or if you can find a camera and other brand MP3 player for cheaper, then go with that. The camera on the iTouch is not too bad for video actually, except that it sucks for taking pics.

Personally, I got an Android phone, this thing does pretty much everything. The camera isn't the best but it does the job.

What do you mean by "space"? Ram? Flash?
If you like my work: why not give me an internet?

Flash, or whatever android devices use for storage (such as MP3s, photos, adult movies, etc).

Android has Flash and a SD card reader (up to 32GB), so I guess you'll be okay.

for mp3 players, i'd personally recommend the sansa fuze. you can get one on amazon for about 60 bucks.
it's about the same size as the ipod nano, i think, doesn't have an annoying touch screen, supports micro sd cards, so for another 20 dollars on amazon you could add 32 gigabytes of storage space, and it's one of the older and better supported players that can run rockbox meaning, if you put it on there, you could use your player for playing just about every audio format you could think of

it has completely customisable themes, so everything can look exactly how you want it to (with pictures, progress bars, timers, and whatever wherever you want them), has loads of useful applications (reading and editing text files, making the screen white and as bright as possible to use as a flashlight, an alarm clock, a calendar, a pitch-detector, a metronome, a bitmap editor, a stopwatch, and so on), and... games. it has a bunch of different natively supported games (think snake, solitaire, etcetera), can run DOOM, and has built in support for gameboy colour roms =DD
plugin list

so that makes all of that as well as 36 gigs of storage space for about 80-90 dollars, whereas the ipod touch is 120 or more and has... 8 gigs?

What kind of MP3 player do you have?
I have a Samsung P3 but I didn't tell it because it is a bit outdated now :P
(However, if my outdated P3 is better than an iPod Nano, why get an iPod Nano and not a Sansa Fuze (which looks like a P3 but in better according to the description), as shmibs said ?)

Flash, or whatever android devices use for storage (such as MP3s, photos, adult movies, etc).

I would do camera if you like to take pictures. Your music player is just aesthetically displeasing, but it is still functioning. If you get a  new camera, you will be getting more function (I think). Still that depends on how much you want a camera >:D
