Title: Grammer Font Request
Post by: Xeda112358 on March 21, 2012, 05:23:04 pm
Hi folks, I have a problem... Currently, the variable sized Grammer font is incomplete (very much so) and I don't have the time or drive to finish it, so I am asking if folks could help me out.

What is needed:
-A font that is generally the same height for all characters (preferably >6 pixels tall) and with varying width.
-It should look good (not sure what I mean by that) and should have some variation in width (like a ! might be thinner than a W)
-It should map to the same chars as the TI-OS in the large font
-Any extra chars that are empty you can fill in with your own (I made little sprites for the 4x6 font)

To help you, I have made the attached on-calc tool (it has one slight update from the previous version of it).
Controls:

+ and - scroll through chars
arrows move the pen tool
6 makes the char wider
4 makes it thinner
2 makes it taller
8 makes it shorter
[Enter] will set a pixel
[Del] will delete a pixel
[2nd] will invert it
[Mode] will exit

Everything saves automatically when you press MODE or you cycle to another char!
When you have a font you like, upload the appvar here (and possibly a screenie) so we can check it out.

Thanks much!

so with custom sized font, we can pull something similar as Correlation, right?

Yes, kind of :) Remember, the custom font has been available for a while, I just haven't had a full font x.x To access the variable font, do Output(1. I have the letters, numbers, and other miscellaneous parts done and built in to Grammer, so it is still mostly usable.

also, it will be easier to edit if the program shows me which font I'm editing.

You mean which char? It does show you for the ones created in the little font... (The little font is almost complete, but not some of the chars).

I'll give it a little try, i'm not very good in pixelart and such things, but i'll just try the program and I'll look what stupid chars I make :p

euhm, how does the progr works? I start up the program and it's not doing anything, it just says : DONE

@xeda : it's me, the boy you helped with introducing to grammer and axe and the on-calc hex-coding (you probebly helped much people so you won't remember me :P)

Wow, yes I recognise you O.O I just didn't know if it was another Steven from Belgium O.O Wow, welcome here XD Also, you will need the Grammer app on your calc for it to work (and you will need to install it).

EDIT: The latest is here http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=10961.0;attach=12238

If you were referring to "coincidence," you did spell it correctly :) (you could also say "coincidentally" in this case)

Also, I hope it works ! If you finish the font, you can upload the appvar called Font, too :)

Ok, it could indeed be handy if there was like a file that told you what char you're editing

To the right of the letter, it shows which char you are editing as well as the number of it. Below, it shows the size and current cursor coordinates. Does that help? (Here is a screenshot that I posted above):

If you want :) Some of them, I just could not fit in 4x6, so I left them empty. There is this:
http://tibasicdev.wikidot.com/83lgfont
That shows the large font in order (but it uses hex for the numbers).

The screenies? Because I edited them in after you posted :P

I hope folks can have fun :D Also, if multiple people submit a font, I can only take one, but then you can post your fonts on TICalc (and here). Grammer programs can work with multiple fonts after all :)

Um, did you cycle to the chars that actually have data? (the first few are blank, so you won't see them)
