Problem when editing image

Hey, I got a little problem when editing this image, I can't seem to get the transparency working correctly.

Since this is in humor & jokes, the 1st thing I looked for was small text that said "The Game", then I saw what's wrong. :P

When working with Photoshop using the Select-> Color Range option generally works out pretty well when the 'wand' tool doesn't. Especially with flat graphics.

If the background is particularly busy or you don't mind altering the image a little bit, Illustrator's pen tool is amazing.
