Ok, this is a bit of a fail
« on: August 11, 2010, 04:21:22 pm »
"We sell Texas Instuments graphing calculators, the kind you can synch with your computer to put simple programs onto them. A customer called up with a problem his kid was having. They had tried to download a couple programs to the calculator, but neither worked. After a bit more conferring, it transpired that they had tried to put Quake III and WinAmp on the thing.

I wonder how that kid thought he was going to listen to music on his calculator?" (quote from computer stupidites)

1. I think there is a quake for the calc

2. We can play music, using things like calcmod and mt3

We can also play 8 bit sound on calculators, even though it requires 24 KB for about 4 seconds of sound

That said, there is effectively a Quake game for calcs, though. One for 68K (Wolfeinstein 3D style, raycasting with grayscale) and a TI-BASIC one for the 83+ (probably the only really good pseudo-3D FPS in BASIC). I think the later is only in French, though.
