Pyongyang Racer (yes, they actually made a game)
« on: August 14, 2014, 02:53:01 am »
O.O

I don't know what to say...  http://www.pyongyangracer.co/

Yes, this is a legit game, even if I posted this in the humor/jokes section instead of gaming discussion. I guess Tvtropes was right in saying this game is so bad it's good and I would say to the point of hilarity. :P

Played this today and the controls really suck. It's also too long and not even a racer. Other than that, okay game, I've played worse games than this.
I'm not a nerd but I pretend:

Yeah I noticed the controls can get weird, plus considering how slow the car moves and how large the streets are it's more like wandering slowly on the road to explore a city and kinda an excuse for North Korea to unleash some propaganda on the player. :P

What I wouldn't be surprised to see in the future is a ROM hack or remake of Hong Kong 97 but involving North Korea instead of China.

Why does this music have a country vibe to it? I thought NK did not approve of western culture.

Edit: I played it for a bit. I am not sure where they are going with this game. Bumping into cars that hide behind fuel barrels is something that happens too often. It's just cheap. The music does not fit the game at all, but it is by far the most appealing thing about this game. The rest is broken.

I think other cars don't even move at all XD

As for the music one of the track actually sounds good but every song are from NK and praise the country/government. I don't think any other kind of music is allowed in their country.

Those graphics, the effects and the low-polyness make it look almost like a PS1 game

Do you mean it's blocked in most countries or is the folder just blocked completely?

Also at least the company who made the game wasn't HappySoft :P

I heard it was released to show Western audiences how wonderful of a city Pyongyang is, so yeah basically propaganda.

Propaganda!
I completely agree.
But wouldn't they have it in multiple languages to show western countries?

Why did no one said it yet ?
CALC PORT !! :P

Seriously though, I am sure it could run on an Nspire with no problem.
I own: 83+ ; 84+SE ; 76.fr ; CX CAS ; Prizm ; 84+CSE
Sorry if I answer with something that seems unrelated, English is not my primary language and I might not have understood well. Sorry if I make English mistakes too.

Not necessarily since it's generally assumed that most people in the world speak English or know some of it.
