As I am playing through a hacked version of ROL2, I thought I would take some time to quote some of the English text in the game. The game was originally in French, then in 2003, despite my extremly poor english skills at the time, I decided to translate the massive game anyway. Over 7 years later, I am shocked at some of the content.

I wonder if some of it can be on par with Zero Wing? O.o

SHORTLY AFTER EVADING FROM JAIL, WHEN FINDING ZORMY:
-ZORMY: I'd done well exiting the prison making a wall to melt and I jumped down. But guards saw me and this girl saved me from them and brought me back here.
Correct translation: I escaped from the prison by melting a wall with my magic and then I threw myself down outside, but guards saw me and this girl saved me from them and brought me back here.

AFTER GETTING THE ICE FEATHER TO ALLOW ELJIN TO CREATE NEW MAGIC ORBS FOR THE SHOP. (Does he implies that Elgin is dumb or something? )
-ZORMY: I'll stay with you to create some cuz I'm sure I'm able to do it!
Correct translation: I'll stay with you to create some cuz with my power I might have the ability to do so, too!

SUNKEN BASE STORY SEQUENCE

AFTER THIS LONG CONVO, WHERE YOU GET THE WINGS:
-GUIL: These wing will realize my dream.
Correct translation: These wings will allow me to realize my dream.

NOTE: After you end up trapped on an island, there's an forest area called Clearing.  The problem there is that newbies could think it's a Mem clear message.

BEFORE GETTING THE AIRSHIP (well, almost)
-ELJIN: I've noticed a weird volcano at East and a village at South.
-MERIX: This volcano is scheming me, but maybe the village is Kasynudio!
-ELJIN: The only one who can enter are orbs user. We'll have to proove our courage to the village chief to let everyone enter.
-MANU: I use Sky Orbs! So you, Zormy and me will enter.
*erm, I think in the French version it's Elgin that says the latter part. Manu only says she uses sky orbs *
-ZORMY: Orbs they sell interest me.


FINDING THE MISSING PARTY MEMBERS AFTER CATACLYSM, IN THE TENT:
-ELGIN: Merix! You're alive!
-MERIX: Zida only KO'ed during the cataclysm.
-ZORMY: It's incredible! I never thinked that the world would change like that. My village is still on the earth and the West has been warped!
-MANU: Is my village been affected?
-MERIX: Your isle came with us and it's now put with Kasinudio. I hope that Gurly is still alive. We must go see him!

Nah I don't think I'll do it for now. I'll probably post screenshots of the best parts, though.

I think it should have been something along the lines of:

The volcano has me perplexed, but I think the village in the south is actually Kasynudio.

IE: The village of Kasynudio is supposed to be at that location, but there had not previously been a volcano there.

@Art yeah I added the correct translation to the first post. The village is not at the volcano location, but the way the sentence was structured sounded like it might be where the volcano is.

Also I added the correct translation of the rest. That game definitively needs a retranslation one day. (It would still not be perfect, but it would certainly be better) I didn't post the entire script because the rest are mostly grammar/spelling mistakes such as forgetting "s" or spelling prove as proove.

@Eeems I am scared of dechipering the code.

Yeah, I still do mistakes but it improved a lot since 2003. Now the issue, though, is that a new translation would definitively mean a total game recode, so it won't look like an half-hassled re-release. X.x

Beware of the Garbage collects, though.
