Which era was the Internet dark ages?
« on: August 23, 2010, 11:58:50 pm »
It is hard to figure out when was the Internet's dark ages, because everytime a craze ended, a new one risen.

It could be:

1) 1995-2000, when everyone thought people on the Internet were all pedophiles
2) 2000-2004, when everyone used l33t5p33k
3) 2004-today, after 4chan opened

What's your view on this? :P

Errr, it's a hard sell either way...
Personally, I would say 1 and 3, because I've only ever heard about 1, but it sounds pretty bad, and because 4chan is the downfall of the human race.

Personally, I think it's after May 2007, because then people can do this!

Option X: Back when the internet was text based. Those were truly teh dark ages! ;.;
Also, I have no idea of what this place you speak of in option 3 is. :P
*edit* also #2. I can't tell you how horrible it was. There were entire pages of data that were damn near unreadable. This age was truly horrible, thankfully it has passed for the most part.

I remember on ticalc news and even other calc forums that existed back then, lots of ppl used 1337 and it was hard to read. Thankfully, hardly anyone use it anymore, now. :P

What is with that? I have flashblock, so I noticed the flash thing, and it transferred something from youtube, but nothing else happened.

except for 5UP3R 1337 H4xx0RZ!!!1

I would have to pick 1 and 2. (also don't forget about those rules :P)
the place in #3 I have mixed feelings about- half the time it's hilarious, the other half it's disgusting (wait, didn't it open in 2003, not 2004?)

I don't remember. I think it was late 2003 or early 2004. In 2008 a 4th anniversary vid was posted on Youtube.
