I suggest you draw your sprite on an 8x8 grid Each Hex value (nibble) represents four pixels in a horizontal line, so [val1 val2 val3...] translates to val1 val2 val3 val4 val5 val6 val7 val8 val9 val10 val11 val12 val13 val14 val15 val16 Each pixel is a binary value (1 for true or 0 for false) example sprite: 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 0 1 1 0 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 0 1 1 1 1 0 1 1 1 0 0 0 0 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 Each group of 4 binary values is one binary number that can be used example: (grouped by parentheses) (1 1 1 1) (1 1 1 1) (1 1 1 1) (1 1 1 1) (1 1 0 1) (1 0 1 1) (1 1 1 1) (1 1 1 1) (1 0 1 1) (1 1 0 1) (1 1 0 0) (0 0 1 1) (1 1 1 1) (1 1 1 1) (1 1 1 1) (1 1 1 1) convert these values to hex as [val1 val2 val3...] is equal to val1 val2 val3 val4 val5 val6 val7 val8 val9 val10 val11 val12 val13 val14 val15 val16 So the example sprite becomes F F F F D B F F B D C 3 F F F F aka [FFFFDBFFBDC3FFFF] Try it!
