g'mornin everybloody!
« on: June 16, 2010, 07:46:37 pm »
hullo
i first tried to join omnimaga about a year ago, but the version of xp im running is very... eccentric and simply refused to display the bottom half of the join page. i just remembered recently that i had never actually gotten around to joining so i booted up a linux livecd and joined that way. i've been writing code and such for about two years though(although not at all regularly) and am currently working on two projects: a pokémon clone with personalized graphics and story elements(im rewriting the entire thing in axe with a more authentic walking engine and larger pkmn sprites atm, but here are some pics from the old celtic version: http://s833.photobucket.com/albums/zz254/shmibs/pkmn%20grey/ ), and another which shall remain unnamed for the axe comp. not much else to say besides hi, i guess

Those map screenies for your pokemon game looked cool! I hope you can pull it off in Axe. ;)
Actually, I'm considering rewriting part of my Pokemon port in Axe as well, but it will still be hybrid BASIC overall.
Anyways, good luck on all your projects and welcome to Omnimaga!

Did someone say peanuts?

Spoiler For Projects:

My projects haven't been worked on in a while, so they're all on hiatus for the time being. I do hope to eventually return to them in some form or another...

Spoiler For Pokemon TI:
Axe port of Pokemon Red/Blue to the 83+/84+ family. On hold.

Spoiler For Nostalgia:
My big personal project, an original RPG about dimensional travel and a few heroes tasked with saving the world.
Coding-wise, on hold, but I am re-working the story.

Spoiler For Finale's Super Insane Tunnel Pack of Doom:
I will be combining Blur and Collision Course into a single gamepack. On hold.

Spoiler For Nostalgia Origins: Sky's Story:
Prequel to Nostalgia. On hold, especially while the story is re-worked.

Welcome here to Omnimaga. Enjoy your stay here. The screenshots look really good. Just remember to be aware of the 8 kb of executable code limit that Axe has. Good luck on your projects though :)

Heya nice to see you around ^^

I remember seeing your Pokémon project on MaxCoderz but I think there were either no screenshots or they were invisible to guests (I couldn't login at the time). It looks very nice. I hope you eventually finish it and your other Axe project. Axe is nice because you can get good speed (and in some cases, size) like assembly with an easier language, plus since Axe supports the Ans variable, it's possible to split the game in multiple programs or make it hybrid of BASIC and Axe (and even ASM).

Anyway welcome here :)

thanks to everyone who responded and said hello (and sorry it took so long to respond... i joined just before going out of town) yes, they are 8*8, and yes, i am aware of the 8kb limit but im not too worried. the current walking engine(which albeit does leave out a couple of things like ledges and those arrow ground tiles) is about 2k including data for some tile sprites and a small map, which will be stored in an appvar, leaving quite a bit of space for text handling, intro, etc. it will be close, but i think i can make it.
...
i still have no peanuts :P

Aaah sounds like a good deal :)

And welcome back :). Are you planning to announce the project here in the future?

As for peanuts, here are some at http://ourl.ca/6106/96044 ;)

Alternatively, you can look for the ones with Rick Astley printed on the bag or the bag that says "The Game". :P
