@Schoolhacker The problem is that schools are sold out to Texas Instruments. Because TI promoted their stuff so much, most schools recommend TI calcs to students. Some math classes even have TI-83+ ads over here and posters. This pretty much kill any chance for Casio, even if their calcs are easy to use and cheaper. Casio market is pretty much limited to the poorest of developed countries. Also IIRC, people complained about color screen calcs taking more battery power, so in 2003 the CFX serie was replaced with the FX-9750G, which is the exact same thing, except with no color and 28 KB of RAM instead of 32.

I think because TI has almost the entire market to themselves, they permit themselves to sell their stuff for higher they are worth for. On top of that they even sometimes change the hardware after a few years to add crappier LCDs (remember the wavy game screens in MirageOs talks?) and less hidden RAM in 84 calcs (causing TI-Boy SE, RealSound, Omnicalc and Msd8x to fail). I mean, how much money did they save on 80 KB of RAM when today, you can get 1 GB RAM sticks for under $100?

Oh well, as long as they will sell calcs, people will still want games, then other people will try finding more online, get interested in making some, and people will continue releasing exploits for the Nspire. Look, for example, the new Nspire calc won't be downgradeable to OS 1.1 (required to run Ndless 1.0). As soon as it was noticed, a preview screenshot showing Ndless running on OS 2.0 came out.

The TI community died for a bit in 2008 but there was a lot of problems in it, causing drama (some that was started lead to Omnimaga demise for half a year). The lack of new cool programs did not help either. Took until 2009 before things picks up again, but now if you look today, forums are slowly picking up again, especially Omnimaga (which got around 30 posts a day a year ago). Now things are going smooth again, with people willing to fight against TI with Ndless and the like. In other words, TI will not win.

The best thing we must try to do (the same thing than with forum softwares and website CMSes) is to try to not reveal how the exploits works to anyone. Basically, if I was ExtendeD or BrandonW and someone joined #ti or United-TI, asking more info about Ndless, it would be a better idea for them to try to not leak too much. We never know which new forum/IRC member might be a Texas Instrument spy.

On Invisionfree, whenever a member reports a bug that might compromise their site security in public, they take note of it but they immediately delete the entire post content and warn the member to not post such thing in public. Otherwise, then more people might know or the hackers might try even harder and faster to find another security hole.

And I think that even a subforum for only trusted members who have been around for years won't work. Who knows how long hidden TI operatives could have been around? If Texas Instruments really was serious enough about doing something like that, then it's possible they've had people undercover for years gaining the trust of the community. You can't know for sure if you can trust anyone, regardless of who they say they are.

yes... but in the hacking world of starcraft: drophacks, map hacks, money hacks, etc... there will almost always be a way to do them...

except money hack... it would seem that blizzard have patched anyway to have money hack...

but as for drop hack and maphack, they will never be able to get rid of it... since all the computers have to have the data of the entire map to be able to operate... otherwise they will be even more trouble... if the map data is not shared then hacks will be able to make units appear in areas where your opponent is not active in !

but ya... it would seem that it is easier to make hacks for games then hack TI calcs for sure lol...
