Hello.My name is 3rik.
« on: August 08, 2011, 10:35:32 pm »
Hello World!
My name is 3rik. I’m a student from the United States. This is the first forum I have ever been a part of so it may take a while to get accustomed to using it.

I became a member of Omnimaga because I want to learn more about calculator programming, I think that I would enjoy programming as hobby, and everyone here seems really friendly.

As for calculators, I own a TI-84+ Silver Edition and a TI-Nspire CX. I know BASIC on the TI-84 somewhat well. I am also in the middle of learning Lua for the Nspire and I am going to eventually learn assembly for the TI-84.

I am excited to learn more about calculators and hopefully get to the point where I can start developing games. I probably won’t post as frequently as other members since I'm shy and I don’t understand everything I read here yet.

Welcome to Omnimaga 3rik
I'm sure you will get some peanuts shortly.

You sound similar to me, with the first forums, Ti-BAISC, and the wanting to learn more about programming ;D

Hope you enjoy Omnimaga, and this is certainly an awesome community for learning how to program calculators :D

Curses!  I lost the game.

Welcome to Omnimaga!  Like I'm sure everybody else is saying, feel free to ask loads of questions -- even ones that aren't related to calculator programming in particular.
My website: Currently boring.

Projects:
Axe Interpreter
   > Core: Done
   > Memory: Need write code to add constants.
   > Graphics: Rewritten.  Needs to integrate sprites with constants.
   > IO: GetKey done.  Need to add mostly homescreen IO stuff.
Croquette:
   > Stomping bugs
   > Internet version: On hold until I can make my website less boring/broken.

Thank you for the welcoming greetings and for the peanuts.

If I have any questions I'll ask.

P.S. I noticed while registering that the rules on the register page don't match the rules on the rules page

I have been reading Omnimaga for the past month or two. I've just been building up the courage to register.

Heya and welcome here, and nice rickroll :P

And yeah the rules are kinda outdated on that page. I suggested a while ago that the staff just change the page to simply link to the other rules, so when updating them they no longer need to update them at two places at once and to reduce the page size, but I don't know what happened to it.

Anyway I hope you enjoy your stay as well as calculator programming ;D

No. Should I register? I don't know very much about ticalc.org. What advantages does it have over Omnimaga?

It's more of an archive and news site.

ticalc.org is pretty much THE repository for calculator programs (good and bad).  It really doesn't have much of a community, though.  When you finish making a game, it's usually a good idea to upload to ticalc, but until then, it's not really worth the bother of registering.

Well Omnimaga is mainly a calc game discussion and programming/hardware help forums, with a small downloads section where active members can upload notable games they made, while ticalc.org is mostly a general calculator download website where you can find almost every kind of game, although there is no quality control. In summary Omnimaga is more a discussion website while ticalc.org is mainly a downloads website.
