Helog!
« on: August 31, 2008, 07:06:24 pm »
Well, I just happen to see omnimaga back up....again, and wanted to say a few things:

-Hi, how is everyone
-What happened last time? (the forum going down again)
-How are you kevin? Sad things keep happening, keep getting emails about wanting to commit suicide...
-I would like to stay around on omnimaga, but this is another restart of many >.>..

Well, "Helog!" to you, too!
I'm fine... even finer now that I'm staff. ;D

Hey kalan, nice to see you're still around in the community, I haven't seen you on AIM/MSN since April 9th :(.  I was worried you blocked me or left the net completly

You probably alerady know why the first site closed in the first place (to sum up, blame a bunch of #tcpa members and my bad mistake of letting troublemakers in the IRC channel to give the final straw to the community and at the time it seemed like most members and staff joined their rannks so I gave up), but the second time it was meant to be a temporary forum and everyone was with the knowledge the old site would be back wihthin 2 months. However Zetaboards/Invisionfree stalled and everyone lost hope and decided to stop posting so I felt it would be hopeless to continue running the forum with the knowledge people from #tcpa would spam it every few weeks like they did. It seemed like everyone was posting on UTI, MC, Revsoft, Cemetech and TI-Freakware near the end so it was hopeless to try to keep Omnimaga alive, so I decided to close it until the old board is back (no matter if it take 6 more months, one more year or whatever). Afterward Netham decided to continue the IRC channel anyway but for the site it was a notice replacing the site for a while, which I removed after mockeries toward my english. After march Randomist (Insanity, Demon, or whatever nickname the guy making Pyro Edit used since that time) and I_c-Y launched a 4th spam attack on the IRC channel, a few months later it got invaded by Nikky, I_c-Y and Tyler2, taking advantage of the fact at that time Netham comp got hit by lightning and a banlist wipeout/service mess, and we got another flood attack last month, altough I am unsure where it came from.

So this is why the temp site got closed. I was not planning to put a new temp forum back up, even if people requested it back then. However, since last month there have been increasing amount of requests to get a fresh new Omnimaga forum back up. At one point I got requests every day and there's even people who offered to help me. After a few day hesitation and asking various people opinions and suggestions on the matter, I decided to restart a new forum from scratch. Suggestions were that the new site/forum is going to be used as a permanent board, not a temp one, meaning no shut down if it dies out of inactivity or if the old board returns.

No matter if a new board is open or not, it still doesn't mean I will put my files on ticalc.org again though. I got my entire profile deleted on April 22nd in retaliation to what people did to me in the TI community, mainly #tcpa, a MaxCoderz staff and some Cemetech people, even after I spent 6 years devoting days and night making games no one did before for the TI community. Also ticalc doesn't update their archive regulary anymore (takes about one month to get files approved) so I find it unreliable. At the same time the absence of my author profile will make the new Omnimaga more unique though, since it will have even more files not avaliable anywhere else and not just in french, altough I'm still unsure if the download system will requires people to login to be accessed or not.

This new board is open with the idea that the old board is not returning (even if it will maybe in half a year or so) and when it returns then just add the old posts to this new board. To prevent further problems involving long shut downs or data loss this is why I now host the board myself, so that the admins can make regular backups. I also decided to do some improvments like adding a new download system. I also redone the skin with the help of tr1p1ea to edit the forum layout.

Now about me, since may, aside from a period in June, I've been doing rather ok. I assume the emails you got were probably more close to the temp board closing date or in June, else it would mean either someone hacked my gmail account or used email spoofing to send fake emails. Right now I should be ok I guess, altough work has been quite hectic this summer, especially last week, so I often feel kinda tired and I am more busy, which is why the download system progresses so slowly.

I hope you reconsider leaving Omnimaga. If you leave, then we will miss you. I hope we can rebuild the community either way, it seems like people want to do so, at least, the ones who are even aware this new board exists at all (I'm surprised you even found it, considering without the index.php it didn't worked O.o, but quite ironically in about 58 minutes it's supposed to work without the index.php anyway, since it's going kinda public now that it's functional and the fact Omnimaga turns 7 years old tomorrow).

ANyway nice to see you're still around again, and I hope you come on AIM every now and then. :)

This might take a bit for everyone to get used to the new software. Altough not as much as Zetaboards. The reason is that it's only the second TI forum to use SMF so far (after Electroshock Programming around 2004-2005 by Kms375, which died long ago), most other TI forums uses PHPBB or IPB

Andf yeah I havent coded in ages. The only calc related stuff I did when Omni was closed was testing Iambian's Celtic III app, which now have Omnicalc sprite( backward compatibility and full xlib backward compatibility btw. This means you now only need one single app to run both Reuben Quest and Bowling ^.^

Nah, it's all cramed into one single page. It even have additional options not in xLIB such as tools to copy a certain amount of lines of code from a program to a string, appvar or sub program, which means basically if someone wanted to he could have Illusiat 6 into one single file. It can even let you use 8xp files up to 65535 bytes but such programs can only be edited on the PC I believe

Aren't we all busy with school/studies? I know I am. Nice to see you again anyway. :)

I am not, but I'm quite busy since the past week with work and other RL stuff and as some of you might remember I manage another forum right on this server. My activity rather decreased since last weekend x.x hopefully I'll get more time soon, but yeah this should explain why the site seems to progress a bit slowly
