Hi everyone!
« on: October 02, 2007, 05:52:00 pm »
Hi guys! I'm pretty new to calculator programming, so I decided to join here as a learning experience, and cuz my best friend Radical Pi is a member here too. I've been programming since I was in Junior high or maybe even early. I took some classes at the Science Museum called "Create your own computer game" and I think I did that for 3 years or so, and we used a program called Microworlds, which is a beginners language, to introduce ourselves to programming. Later, in High School, I took all the programming classes offered (only two V_V), which used C++. Currently, I'm a freshman in college, and I'm in a "Software Design using Java" class. I think I did well on yesterday's test but I haven't gotten it back yet XDsmiley.gif
besides that i have numerous interests, including Nintendo, my made up world (interest in that dwindled with age XDsmiley.gif), writing my own music, and the paranormal, more specifically Lucid Dreaming. I'm an Admin at Radical Pi's other website, RealityRevolution, and we have a lot of fun there.
As for calculator programming, I've been reading tutorials on TI-basic, and looked at one for assembly, and was instantly confused, so it can wait XDsmiley.gif the most complex program I've been able to make is just a little maze using a string and I have a little X you can move around, it was mostly for me to learn hit detection, but I was proud of it nonetheless. Next thing I have in mind is a puzzle game, although I'll need to learn a bunch more for it, where each different type of block needs a different amount in a row to "pop" them. (X needs 3, Y needs 4, T needs 5, and maybe more). Also, since my previous programming experience is with computers, which isn't very limited, I'm gonna have to get used to Optimization.
See you guys around!

I know Radical_Pi is pwn. he's been my best friend for almost a year now, and I only know him on the computer :Ptongue.gif
I wonder how happy he'll be when he finds out I finally joined ^_^
Hopefully I can get my puzzle game finished sometime soon, and I'll have to try out that pokemon game... pokemon is awesome.

I think it doesn't matter much if a friend is only known online or In real life, except that you can't see him most of the time and never get to hang out with him. I actually managed to get better online friends than RL friends (probably because we share the same interests about calculator (and music)

Did Radical Pi talked to you about Omnimaga or did you found the site on google and saw he joined? Just wondering how my site indexing in google is going %)rolleyes2.gif... I guess it must have a good ranking though, because we get around 30 spambots per day here (which is why we manually validate accounts and when we are not sure if it's a bot or a real person we ask them to reply to a confirmation email with a weird code).

He's the one who told me about it, and he knows I've been thinking of joining. But whenever I come I just search for "Omnimaga" in my google toolbar and the first result is the winnar.
I talk to Radical Pi daily, so we know each other really well. we were planning to get together this summer, but I came across some difficult times, and I was unable to finish plans. He was there to help me though, although he thinks he sucked at it XD if you read one of his posts (I think on July 25th, about where he's been all year) he indirectly mentioned me. I'm the one who suggested Astral Projection to him and stuff. Hopefully I'll get to fly out to him and see him sometime soon.

We can always help if you need help on TI-BASIC for 83+ and TI-89 C. Some may know 83+ assembly as well but I would suggest you start with BASIC first unless you know a very hard/low level programming language such as C for the computer and know how a computer really works (I dont mean being able to start it up, run programs, save files, copy/paste/delete, etc, I mean how memory, registers and pointers works, how is structured your computer RAM and how you can make coffee with MS Paint)

And fix your avatar because it takes around 10 seconds to load for me o.oblink.gif (must be hosted on a  very slow server)

Hi! :Dbiggrin.gif
Since you were wondering how I'd react, I'll tell you what went through my mind as I thought I was clicking another 'generic intro from someone who'll leave in a week': "WHAT?!"
Looks like I'll have a bit of competition soon with you! You better catch up and learn Basic fast! :Ptongue.gif
Today's been oddly calc-related so far... I gave someone Omnicalc and redownloaded Super Mario 1.2, I thought of updating GQES, and now this... Plus, I aced a math test today that everyone else got at most a high B on, but that is completely unrelated :Dbiggrin.gif

[Wow, only three emoticons? I usually put in a lot more than that...]
And for anyone wondering what his 'made up world' is, it's basically his equivalent of my Mmruda. Another random similarity between us.

[edit!]Almost forgot! *throws some peanuts at Cadethian*
One of these days I'll get a sig I'm really proud of.

My avatar's having problems? O_o
I've had it for months on RR and no one's complained XD
And I'm pretty sure you'll keep me from leaving after a week Radical Pi XD
