Pleased to meet you all
« on: January 13, 2011, 12:45:06 am »
Well, let me introduce myself. Lord Blake, at your service. 4 years ago, i obtained a TI-84+ Silver Edition for school, and fell in love with it right away. I researched everything i could do with it (avid homebrewer, have everything from my DS to my PS2 to my phone able to do everything), and was ecstatic that the 84+ could run ASM programs. I tell you, if it wasn't for Super Mario 1.2, i wouldn't have gotten through Freshman year with my sanity intact.

Well, i just bought the last TI-Nspire on clearance at Staples, and am disgusted that they cut ASM support from it. Brings a tear to my eye, really. Even with the relatively recent achievements of Ndless and gbc4nspire, i'm amazed by the seemingly nonexistent Nspire programs! Of course, the minute i got it, Ndless was one of the first additions, as well as most of my collection of 84+ programs and tweaks for the 84+ side as well.

I'm glad to be a part of yet another community, and hope i can help out wherever i'm needed!

-Lord Blake

Heya and welcome to the forums. :) Glad to see another calculator fan around. Don't worry about the low amount of programs for the TI-Nspire: Ndless 1.0 came out less than one year ago and only ran on OS 1.1 (hard to find on the web and doesn't work well on all calcs) until recently. Now that it's compatible with OSes that are still available easily online, there should hopefully be new programs coming out eventually.

Do you program on the calculator, by the way? I am curious what languages do you know?

Anyway I hope you enjoy your stay. :)

On a side note, due to spam, we had to disable profile editing for any member who has 0 posts, and when posting in the intro section post counts won't increase. As soon as you post elsewhere other than Intro and Randomness you should be able to edit your profile freely. Sorry for that.

Well, thank you all for the warm welcome!

I was wondering why i couldn't edit my profile ^_^ I hate it when i come in without an avatar or signature or anything, thanks for clearing that up, DJ Omnimaga, almighty admin...

To everyone that asked, i've dabbled, but i don't code, it's just not my thing. I've studied my fair share of source code, i'm a primarily Linux user, so i'm very familiar with command prompts and little scripts, but i've never risen above simple Java. But HTML, Javascript, those kind are all common sense!

@graphmastur: OHMNOMNOMNOM, PEANUTS! (and your QR code avatar is too low res, can't read it...)

^this. The reason why post count was disabled here was due to most threads turning into randomness. If I started moderating the intro section for random spam instead, we would have 600 banned users. O.O

Anyway it's fine if you don't program, a lot of people here don't either and some stopped or didn't start yet. I hope you stick around for a while. :D

... and there are also topics where you can unleash your website/scripting skills, because this community mainly aims for TI, but we don't limit ourselves to it... (like this site is not written in pure ASM :P)
Enjoy your staying!

Hello, Breakingspell, and welcome here to omnimaga!  Ashbad at your service.  I'm sure anyone here would be glad to help you get on your feet so you can dive head first into wet cement programming on calculators (unless you already know how -- then you can always ask the more advanced users here for tips; I learned that you can learn something new every day, since you can never know too much!)

Are you planning any projects?  If so, we would be honored to see them posted here!  Omnimagians like myself get giddy with joy upon the creation of new projects -- it's fun for the developer(s) to make, but even more fun for us to play/use the projects on our calculators!  Plus, it makes developers proud to see their project over it's stages of development.  If you have a project in mind, feel free to post it in the "other calc projects and ideas section"

Again, welcome to omnimaga, and I hope you enjoy your stay and have fun! :D
