English homework: calculator ad
« on: November 24, 2010, 12:30:19 pm »
HI everyone!

My english teacher gave us a little homework in order to prepare ourselves to our mid-term exam (in 2 weeks). We have to create an advert using 15 devices (I thinks he means figures of speech), and I chose to create an ad about a "not real" new version of the TI-84+SE.

So I would need help to get a picture of a modified calc (a painted one, I mean) and stupid features to make it more funny ;D
The homework is due on Monday the 29th, so I have a bit of time, but I don't really know what to include in it: I have the structure (zigzag effect with the pictures), but I need the content (in french we call it "la forme"(shape) et "le fond" for the footer thing (sorry guys, really difficult to explain it clearly :/ )

Thanks to anyone who could help me with this task! ;) ;)

So, basically, you want us to help with your homework? Sorry, no can do. That kinda defeats the purpose.  I wish you luck on it, though. (Also, this doesn't really belong in Other calculator discussion and news)

EDIT: I know this post might have sounded kind of rude.  If you would clarify what exactly you would like to see in a fake calc, I'm sure I could help, since I have photoshop.  Also, the 29th is 5 days away. That is not much time at all. ;-)

For the record, it might have sounded rude, but I do stand by what I said.  I will help, not do. Seriously, though, good luck.

What about a button that destroys the calculator? Hah

He is free to ask homework help if he wants. Do not do what you did on United-TI one year ago. A lot of people left that forum due to posts like that. He is not begging to get the entire work done for him, he just needs help on some parts, in this case a calc with a modified look, kinda like Kerm's Ultimate Calc (I think it was that). That said, I don't think a lot of us own a painted calc so I wonder if it might be best to just photoshop a regular one?

I think that's what he meant.

I wasn't too sure, since he said painted calc. It might be best with Photoshop or similar softwares, though, since he would have more freedom in designs.

I've heard of a fake 84+ gold edition, I'm not sure if there was an image though :(
Might be an idea?

Ticalc.org, VTI skins?
http://www.ticalc.org/pub/miscellaneous/emulator/
I'm not seeing any 84s though...

May be it was a modded calculator.

I've written a little article about modded TI on my website (in French) : http://www.tisoftwares.net16.net/mods_ti.html. Feel free to use the images for your homework.  ;)

Take a look at the bottom of the page : there are some beautiful ti83+ (sadly, the images are rather small...). There is also a ti83+ with a pipe in it (to smoke weed  ;D ).
Visit my TI website : Ti Softwares (in French) !

There was a fake news on Omnimaga when someone released a grayscale quadratic solver with a fake TI-84+ Gold edition including the quadratic solver, but I forgot the name of the image. A fake TI forum was started when the fake news was posted: http://s12.invisionfree.com/qslf

Yeah actually the quadratic solver was by him. I started the forum but I think he has like 90% of all posts. :P

I found the pic:

There's always Kerm's Ultimate Calculator Projects:

I believe the second one may be what you're looking for. ;D

Hum... I don't like it, but maybe you do  ;D

If you want the .psd I can give it to you by e-mail, since I can't upload.

DJ, I think it would be cool if we were able to upload .psd files :) (attach)
