Possible ninth planet?
« on: January 21, 2016, 06:11:52 am »
So, scientists found possibly a ninth planet in our solar system, Planet X.
This planet is "only" theorized due to anomalies in Neptunes orbit. Apparently Neptune was discovered similarily, due to anormalies in Uranus' orbit.

Well, it can be just another lie to call people's attention. I would bet is just yet another brain storming thingy. I' may be wrong, though :-\.

It's a bit.. tenuous. Having that thing there is consistent with observations of other orbits and could possibly explain them, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's there. A direct observation would make it infinitely more interesting.

There is a lot of crap going around the sun at large distances, it doesn't have to be so simple as a single large object to fix it all. In a way, perhaps it's even more interesting if it turns out to be not so simple.

Oh! I heard about this! One day is supposedly 20,000 Earth-years there. *.*

This was also how Pluto was discovered (because Neptune's orbit was itself suggested another planet)... and it was called "Planet X" originally.

I believe there was speculation about a planet X about 10 years ago. I wrote an essay about it in elementary school :P

This was also how Vulcan was not discovered, but that shouldn't affect a planet way out there much.

"Planet X" is a generic name for a new planet—I'm sure they'll give it a clever Roman god name eventually.

An outlier in the solar system! I like it! But the fact that no one has ever seen the planet is very exciting. What if It happens to be a far out terrestial, surrounded eternally by a thick, enormous gas atmosphere, while secretly harboring alien life. Hey, this is a great idea for an RPG storyline!

That will probably happen once it's directly observed to prove its existence ;)

Well, I'm sure if you dream hard enough you'll uncover a couple of extra mysterious planets flying around from your kindergarten memories ;D.

This time around, I would give it a chinese name. Come on 'the times they are a changin' x.x.
