Earth Mover
« on: January 22, 2011, 03:22:40 am »
So I recently downloaded the FL Studio Demo, and I have to say i'm really impressed with everything they let you do in the demo!  They let you use abolutely *every* feature in the program, except for loading projects.  So all that means is that as long as you write your music in one sitting, or never close the window, you have 100% of the features FL Studio has to offer  8)

So I was playing around for a bit and I wrote this little piece I like to call the Earth Mover  ^-^ Its kinda techno electronic i dunnow what, but I like it :P

Thanks :D Yeah FL Studio demo is identical to the real complete program, you just can't open saved projects, so I still can use 100% features.  You can find the demo here http://flstudio.image-line.com/documents/download.html

As for your game, feel free to use it :D Just put me in the credits or whatever ^^

I had never heard of this piece of software to make songs, but I have already downloaded your song and have to hear it.

EDIT: The song looks quite cool, reminds me of something I've heard before, but dunno what. haah it's getting better as I type.

Nice Builderboy. I never could get used to the older FL Studio programs. I wonder if the newest version is easier to use? For example I could never get used to ACID Pro 6 and Magix Music Maker 15-16 and MTVMGPC, but I had no problems with ACID Pro 7, Magix 14 and MTVMG1PS1. I should give it a try at one point.

Are you planning to put it in the download section? I think that would be our first music upload in half a year. :P

Yeah it seemed like many things were different from the typical DAW software. Some people get used easily to it, but others can't. It depends, I guess.

Got bored today and made another song, dubbed 'Digital Velocity' :D I still have a lot to learn when it comes to Fl studio, but at least i'm getting the hang of it ^^ This render kinda has a bit too much percussion, but i like the way it turned out anyway.

Nice!  I like them. ;D

On a side note, can I put my own compositions that aren't electronically made in the download section if I ever record them? :D

Edit: Earth Mover sure is catchy.  By any chance do you know the chord progression it uses? ^-^

To quote Kevin McKee (one of my favorite composers):
Quote
...figuring out chord progressions to some songs you like.  Many pop songs have pretty simple progressions - the most common of course is I-V-I or I-IV-V-I or I-vi-IV-V-I (every hear or play that tune "heart and soul"? there it is).  All these roman numerals refer to are the scale degrees on which a chord is built.  So if you're in the key of C and assign a numeral to every note in the C scale, I would be C, ii would be D, iii would be E, etc.  So if we wanted to do a I-V-I chord progression, the first chord, since it is I, would be a C major chord, the V would be a G major chord, and the I is C again.  The definition of a chord is three or more notes sounding at once.  Most chords start with what is called a triad (or three notes).  Visually, if you are looking at a staff, this translates to stacking notes on top of each other, like a line on line on a line.  So a C major chord is C-E-G (every other note in the scale).  A G major chord would be G-B-D.  The reason some roman numerals are upper case and some lower case is that upper case numerals denote it's a Major chord (happy) and lower case ones denote a minor chord (sad).

Hmmm I'll see if I can reconstruct the chord progression by sound, since I don't have the project file anymore (demo D:) but it might be tricky :P
