THis is great. I like the style in it. Some parts reminds me of FF music, others from movie music. I think it would fit well in both. Did you use real instruments by the way, or a music making software? Regardless, it sounds awesome.

I wonder what would be the music style for the song? It sounds classical, but I was not sure, due to the instruments used.

I'm glad you posted this :)

It's classical, and I used music making software.  I did have a live recording, but I don't know what became of it.

That sounds really cool.

So far I've heard triangle, tom-tom (gong), marimba (plastic mallets sound maybe?), chimes, bells (not literal bells, just not sure what the technical name is), shakers, and timpani. Anything I miss or was wrong about?

Also, what software did you use? Sibelius? Again though, it sounds really cool.

I used Finale 2010.  It's because I was able to get Finale cheap, and Sibelius doesn't allow one to make all the technical changes to the music layout.

Instrumentation: 2 Xylophones, 2 Vibraphones, 2 Orchestral Bell sets, Marimba, Chimes, Drum Set, Crash Cymbals, Tam Tam, 2 Triangles, 4 Timpani, Bass Drum and Afuche Cabasa.

Nice I didn't knew FInale could get that sound, especially all the reverb effects. Does the software lets you use VST plugins like FL Studio, ACID, Magix Music Maker, Cubase, Reason, Logic and Ableton Live?

Ah ok, well I got some of them right haha. Aren't cabasa's a form of shaker?

Finale allows some plugins such as VSTs.  For Insurgency, I used a combination of Garritan Personal Orchestra, some kind of percussion suite, and a .sf2 file.

As for the afuche cabasa, you could shake it, but usually you roll the beads along your hand by rotating it.  It's the latin version of an african instrument.  Picture below:

Mhmm interesting stuff ^^

And nice Finale allows VST instruments. They can come very useful in music creation since they allow more freedom. That's providing you have a decent computer, though.

This was the very first song where I ever used VST plugins:
&fmt=18

At 4 VST instruments used at once (4 sound channels), my old comp was no longer able to play the song properly in the music creator. I had to render the whole song and listen to the mp3 to preview it.

For about 8 years, I used Finale 98.  It even worked wonders at college when I used SynthFont.  The point is, even old technology works wonders if you know how to use it

Well said Hot Dog. IMHO, it's not what you use that matters, it's what you produce with it (unless someone just take a copyrighted song and pitch it up, claiming it as his own work, then it's bad). IN 2008 I made 4 songs using semi-pro equipment released not so long ago, and I was not as comfortable with it. Afterward, I switched back to the music software I've been using since 2002: MTV Music Generator for the Playstation 1. If you were born in Europe or Asia, it was called Music 2000 there. It came out in 1999, has no VST plugin support and only works with 2 MB of sound memory at once and 24 sound channels, yet you can still produce amazing stuff with it. I even ran a site about the MTVMG serie from 2007 to 2009 and it had about 400-1000 posts per month (sometimes more than Omnimaga back then) with a lot of members. Sadly there was too much drama afterward, though, and it killed the site and I left. It also went through a huge data loss. It seems to be slowly reviving now, though. The site is mostly people who use the serie (most uses MTVMG because they prefer it to MTVMG2 and 3) or who used to use it.

While MTVMG is more limited, I seems to produce better stuff in it than with other softwares. With other softwares, I am so concentrated in trying to get the whole thing to work that it hinders my inspiration
