My first power metal song using MTVMG (work in progress)
« on: May 02, 2010, 04:37:24 am »
I was trying for a while to come up with decent eurobeat style stuff in MTVMG, but then I finally ended up making a short metal sample in the style of video game music :P

I posted a version earlier but I worked more on it and uploaded it on youtube. It's not finished yet so it's rather short but I hope you like :)

Style is inspired from Ys, SSH music and games like Megaman or my old RPG Super Star Hero.

So far it reminds me of the music you made for Super Star Hero a lot. =)

This is quite good! Like the style, but sometimes the chord order isn't very logical. (although you might attribute that to taste :P )

Thanks ^^

And yeah that's a quite complex chord progression I meant to have, kinda like Epic Journey Through The Galaxy (I should really do a cover of this song one day :P)

Ok small update on that song project:

I'm thinking about going the Stratovarius/Sonata Artica way of doing the song structure instead of most other power metal songs, especially that it's more video game style. Normally, power metal music is like this:

Intro
Verse 1
Pre-chorus
Verse 2
Pre-chorus
Chorus
Solo (verse melody)
Pre-chorus
Chorus
Ending

I will do this instead:

Intro
Verse 1
Pre-chorus
Chorus
Verse 2
Pre-chorus
Chorus
Solo (verse melody and pre-chorus)
Chorus
Ending

Due to the video game ish nature of this style, I felt it may sound ordered better in overall.

I also thought about adding a longer intro part with no drums so the song won't start as abruptly, but then it would be much harder to integrate in a video game for anything else than a boss fight.
