My Plan

For a few weeks now I've been a little depressed about something. No matter how much I practiced, or how many hours I spent studying, I couldn't get the sound out of my bass that I wanted. And it isn't me, the bass just isn't built for what I want to do. It doesn't have quite the tone or range I need.
Today, I went to the local music shop. I saw a six string bass, and picked it up. At first I just played some slap grooves, but I quickly found myself tapping. A few minutes later I hooked up an octave pedal. Soon, I realized that I had found the sound I'd been looking for all these years.
After 3 or 4 hours of sitting in the store I realized something, the bass was $600 and I just don't have that kind of money. However, I know of a decent one I saw online for $170 (my friend had bought the same one) and I think it'll (for now at least) do.
I think I've finally found it, the sound I've been searching for. I'm excited as hell and can't wait to spend days tapping my six string

great to hear, it sucks when you are unable to get the music to sound how you want. I myself had this happen even with unreal instruments when making music, and i kinda felt akward because i would have liked the song to sound the exact way i want

@MSR5 $600 really isnt that much for a bass. Most of the people here are in high school or college and just dont have that kind of money to spend though.
@ Super speeler, you could try finding an older used model of the one you liked in the store. I'm sure you could find something comprable.

The one I normally use is $500 (I got it $120 used) and my amp is normally $600 (got it on sale for $200). I also use two of my dads speakers when needed, which give an extra 1000 Watts of sound.
Yeah, $600 isn't a lot for a bass, but it's more then I can currently spend.

think about people who have to buy musical instruments for band/orchestra. that's why some people rent. but really devoted people would buy and make their instrument their own, like a major part of them.
Super_Speler: ya i've had that kind of experience w/ violins. the difference between one and another can be extreme or nothing sometimes.
