I tracked some new tunes this weekend. I was at a demoparty and the chiptune music there inspired me to make these. It was great fun and I met Utz there.
Have a listen:
[NES]
After Outline
[NES]
Floating down the rootbeer river
[NES]
[Insert name here]
I used
Famitracker

Cool stuff Keoni! Like the first one especially.
Also yeah, pleased to have met Keoni at Outline. I can confirm that he's a very nice guy

Hmm... The first track is very C64 like. It actually seems kind of familiar for some reason... I could definitely see it fitting into an old video game or one that's retro styled. It's a decent sounding composition, and I like it ok. It is abit too commodore sounding for my tastes though.
The second one is very cheery and upbeat. Also reminds me of C64 stuff, but I like this one a lot more. It's quite catchy.
Kind of sounds like something that would be in an anime for some reason (if it were less chiptuney).
Also, dem arps.
They're actually used pretty well in both compositions. I've heard many songs where they were overbearing and obnoxious. It's unfortunate, because they detracted from what otherwise could have been decent songs. That's not the case with either of your compositions though, so well done!

I did not even use the white noise channel in "After outline." I usually don't use arps a lot, but I gave it a shot and it turned out ok.

Hmm. Keo? Could you release all these tracks in an EP, give the EP a name, some free rights to stream it in a radio?

I really like it.
It would easily fit into a classic NES game. Stylistically it reminds me of Megaman a bit, but it also reminds me of some of the VVVVVV music. I think mainly because of the arps.
*Edit* It might have a hint of Tim Follin. I just thought about it. The Silver Surfer soundtrack on NES comes to mind.

The silver surfer soundtrack is awesome. Why didn't I listen to it before?

I didn't know until recently either. It is quite fantastic stuff though.
This game is known for its infamous difficulty level. I think that somewhat overshadows the ost.

I like how this sounds like. I believe I heard the 2nd one before, but I still like to listen to it every now and then. Also i have Equinox for the SNES but I need to get a copy of Solstice one day.
